Buckner Performing Arts Magnet Elementary School

In six years that I had spent here as an elementary schooler, I can't say that there was one day without being bullied, not only by students, but it only being perpetuated by staff. I was beaten up and the staff thought that I deserved it. It had been so engrained in my head by the staff that if I told someone that I was being bullied that I would be the one punished, that I am a sophomore in high school and I am submissive and never stand up for myself. In Buckner, I was never taught what a verb was, what a cell was, etc. and I had to compensate on my own by teaching myself things at home. As it turns out, I love to learn and learning is my favorite thing in the world, but as an elementary schooler I never knew that because I associated school with drama and bullying and school was the place where I got beaten up and shamed by people who were supposed to be mature adults. I should have never gone here, and sometimes I look back and cry about my childhood, severely detrimented by this school, and wish that I had gone someplace else, but I can't change the past. You only have one childhood, don't be fooled by the fact that this is a magnet school, and do NOT let your children go here.

I went here. My children have gone here. Great but not perfect,like my kids and I 😉
