Unfortunately we used Burton lumber. Maybe the problem was the sales guy we had Brad. He was not great to work with. I felt like all he did was try to sell on us on product and pointed fingers at other people when something went wrong. Our front door had the wrong measurement and he blamed my builder, which wasn't her fault. It was Brad for sending the wrong measurements and the door guy came to install and left. So my husband spend all night pulling out the frame to reframe it so the door would fit. Lots of errors on framing, supplies. My ruff sawn beams are a mess and even after sending pics of the damage the beams sat and never got replaced and ended up getting used! Nobody ever came to pick up the mistakes, my husband always had to drive it back to them. And we always got charged a delivery fee 60 and a fas fee 20. Pretty steep the charge when the company salesman makes errors. It was difficult to work with Brad. He sold me on poplar wood for NY custom doors 12k that do not take stain well and they still sit uninstalled. He blames me even tho I am not the professional selling the product. I went off what he said. Never let anyone tell you they know what they are talking about. They don't know either. He sold us on a barn door system 3k that nobody knows how to install! Now what do i do with doors and system? You can see side by side that the right side is pretty and resembles whole oak which is what I was told but once stained it goes yellow green and muddy looking. Not very pretty. Such a bummer but nobody will do anything abou it. I would never use Burton lumber again. Such a huge disappointment on my custome pieces. Major splits in my beams Also all interior doors had door knob issues as the holes drilled were in different placed and required different size latches which cost me another $500. I swear there is always an added cost. I ordered all solid wood doors for bedrooms and one is hollow and Brad blamed the install guy said he put it somewhere else. Hmmmmm. I have a large gap in one of my basement doors. All of my doors have a 2 finger gap off the floor. Apparently that's normal? Too any errors, too any added costs. No professionalism or customer satisfaction.
Terrible customer service. They installed a garage door on my new house less than two years ago. They had to come out multiple times to fix it after install, bolt falling off, tracks not aligned and so on. Now I’ve got a cable that is fraying and my door is crooked again. I cannot get anyone to call me back or even answer the phone for that matter.
Had a great experience working with Burton Lumber. They had been contracted by our home developer to build our deck. However, we later discovered that the developer's plan for the deck was not what we had originally been told. The developer and head contractor were not willing to help accommodate our request to revert back to the original plan a bigger deck, stairs included, etc. so we went to Burton Lumber directly. Working with Steve Ross was a great experience. He did all he could to make sure we got what we wanted. He even sent us photos of progress as they went along. We were super impressed with his responsiveness and willingness to help us when the other parties involved just chose to ignore us. Steve and his crew came back after we closed on the house to add the expansion to make the deck the larger size we requested, and they were professional and efficient. We love our deck and it is everything we hoped for.
Left disappointed both times I’ve purchased from Burton Lumber. Sales and Trusses have been great to work with but the will call counter has zero customer service. First time I waited over an hour to get loaded. I had to call my sales guy from the Truss department to come down to will call to get them to load my order properly. The quality of lumber I received wasn’t good either. Both times they tried to load damages sheathing. The second time they didn’t have enough good sheets to complete my order. I asked for a discount on the damaged sheets and they told me the manager wasn’t in and they couldn’t discount them. They didn’t seem concerned so I told them to unload the rest of the order and refund my $536. I ended up going to BMC and they got me taken care of quickly for the same price and there was no damaged items. Avoid wasting your time with Burton Lumber and go somewhere where they care about customer service.
Bought 4 6x6x8 posts for my project. They are a bit pricey, but i'm impressed with the quality. Quick and easy service. Will be buying here again for sure.
Must be nice to have enough business to abandon courtesy and professionalism. I have worked on two large scale home construction projects in the past year, one requiring roof trusses and another requiring specialized treated posts. Both times I have called Burton to inquire about pricing and availability. Both times the person in the lumber yard was rude and condescending. I approached the first situation with a year of lead time, understanding the present supply chain challenges, but was told in no uncertain terms that they really only do business with large contractors. On my second phone call, I got as far as giving the length of the posts I needed before the man on the phone interrupted me mid sentence with a terse, "Nope," then offered no further explanation. I have no issues with the fact that they don't carry the product I need, but interrupting a customer with such an abrasive, unhelpful remark is uncalled for. I have no intention of ever working with Burton again, but I doubt they care much at this point.
Terrible customer service. Spent close to $10k in doors throughout the house and almost every door needed modification to fit, even when they were given the original doors from the house to cut them from. Did I mention they lost our original doors? Multiple full frame doors were far off from the measurements given and no effort to make things right were even remotely offered. Instead was told a custom door could cost me over $200k. Customer satisfaction is non-existent and would never go back. Thomas Lee messed up on multiple transactions and I should have learned my lesson the first time.
Probably a 3.5. This company has great products. I was impressed with most of the lumber they delivered, although some of it broke and there was a bit that was junk. They did a great job at customer service in providing quotes. They were always very nice to me. Their pricing for some materials is suspicious to me. I would compare prices before committing to anything. For example, they wanted to sell me a Simpson hanger for $49.00 per hanger after quoting me $16 for it. I bought 24 of them thinking they were $16 and ended up paying 1200! After some conversations with the price people, they were willing to work with me on getting a full refund. I was happy with their willingness to do that, although I hope they got the issue cleared up with that part number. I ended up getting the part for $9 each online. They were willing to work with me and were flexible on restocking fees and stuff that arrived broken or not in good condition.
Ordered shiplap in for an installation A few days away. Some of the boards were damaged, one of the boards was seriously damaged. I had driven all the way out to pick up the product from will call. With the damaged product I would be unable to complete the installation I had scheduled. Although they were willing to order me a new piece, the recommendation was to just use the damaged piece. And they expected me to drive all the way back out to will call over an hour of driving on my day of installation to get the replacement board that they sold me. Not very kind, not very helpful, not very good customer service. I have been a loyal customer to Burton lumber, but after this experience, I think I will be looking elsewhere to do business.
Very easy to work with, mine was a relatively small order $89 for a commercial-oriented lumber supplier. They were enthusiastic, pleasant, and speedy, brought the order right to my truck. I highly recommend them and will continue to purchase from them.
