Story

Growing up on Long Island but constantly visiting her grandmother in Bushwick, our founder Kymme Williams noticed that there were very few places in the neighborhood to sit down for a cup of coffee. She and her husband Raymond started Bushwick Grind in an effort to give the local community a great coffee house with a welcoming atmosphere and superb coffee.

The shop officially opened in April 2015, but our journey began about a year earlier, when we made several trips to Portland, Oregon’s American Barista Coffee School to master the art of the perfect cup of coffee. While there, we networked with local coffee shops and learned everything we could.

At Bushwick Grind, we proudly serve coffee made with beans from Counter Culture Coffee Roasters, who work with local coffee farmers all over the world and ensure that their partners are paid a fair wage. Our goal is to serve the highest-quality coffee possible, so we pay attention to every detail, down to using a 50-gallon filtration system to ensure that the water quality at our shop matches that of the beans.

We offer baked goods that are made fresh every morning, and a rotating selection of breakfast and lunch items, including several vegetarian and vegan options. Upstate New York farms supply our dairy products and honey, and our health-conscious menu includes gluten-free options.
