The staff is friendly and quick. The croissants are average actually under par for an above average price. People saying that they serve fantastic French pastries, never went to France I guess they serve nothing close to French, Belgian or Danish pastries. All coffee is served way too hot and in disposable cups whether you drink it inside or on-the-go. The cookies are too sweet. The atmosphere of the place is nice I guess that’s why you pay so much for the under par products.
We visited Cafe d’Avignon for our order on TooGoodToGo and it was a decent experience. The staff was super friendly and welcoming. We got a loaf of Brioche Bread and one Ham & Cheese Croissant. It wasn’t the most valuable surprise bag we got from TooGoodToGo but it’s still a good deal. Their pastries were delicious, especially the croissant, which is crispy with flavorful filling.
Try the Black Forest Ham and Sea Salted Butter on a baguette. It is the sleeper item in their case of beautiful pastries, breads and sandwiches. We also love their chocolate chip cookie, almond croissant, and latte.
I went here today for breakfast and it was wonderful. I purchased a ham and gruyere croissant and an iced oat milk latte that was just perfect. They have an amazing selection of breads and sweet and savory items. This location is immaculately clean, and the service is excellent. The people that work there are very kind and actually happy to be there. I will definitely be returning again very soon. I just love all the shops at the new Essex market.
Expensive, they charge extra for milk, butter. The baguette is really hard to chew, the pastries are over sweet. There’s nothing French in this bakery. it’s more a combination of European pastry.
An actual bakery that sells more than just pastries. These are surprisingly hard to find in lower Manhattan. Everything tastes great. The bread is always fresh and the sandwiches are always delicious. You're going to bring paying almost $9 per sandwich and they aren't too big, but the taste more than makes up for it. The bread will run you from $3 to a baguette, $5 for a normal loaf, and $10 for something special. It's also in Essex market which has a ton of other shops. There's butcher shops, beet shops, small grocery spots, everything you could want to get while running errands.
Huge multi seed loaf with that perfect dash of immortality caraway just sets it off of course. Scone is a meal. Banana bread lightly salty thank you very much! Lovely service
Would definitely recommend you try the cheese amann and the honey olive oil cake. Both were quite excellent and the lady at the counter was the sweetest too. Gave me a bag for the things I'd ordered since I already had something else in hand as well. The ham and cheese croissant was quite good too!
Their Sourdough Bread is the best. The other pastries and cookies are pretty amazing too.
Love this place. My boyfriend and I stop here every time we go to Essex Market, atleast once a week. The bread is cheap and good, and the desserts especially the chocolate olive oil cake are delicious. The staff are always nice and sometimes give samples:.
