So… I love Cafe Rio but when you do a take out order in an airport you trust that it’s correct. I ordered a Steak Burrito because it’s about the best burrito in the world. Unfortunately I got a grilled chicken burrito. I was a few bites into it when I noticed this problem. Of course, by this time I’m far away, hungry, with all my stuff spread out. So I eat it. It was good but not what ordered or paid for - steak is extra! I don’t know about the chicken. So, yes, it was good - but is wasn’t what I wanted. UPDATE: Cafe Rio came through and gave me my meal - and for that I award them 5 stars. Everyone makes mistakes; not everyone makes it good.
This Cafe Rio allows for contactless order, including through the app or a group of handy kiosks on the side. It's pretty streamlined. You can watch the progress of your order, and they put it out on a shelf for you to grab. Why the lower stars? Because this is an airport, it was a bit pricier than expected. The quality was good, but far from the best I've gotten from a Cafe Rio. If you're looking for food at the Salt Lake airport during the lunch rush, and you don't want to wait in long lines, this is a good choice.
Ordering online at this location is pointless. They almost never get the order right. Can't customize it because they will just do it the way they want to. When I order Nachos with Queso cheese, not regular cheese. Then use the Queso! How is that so hard? They are probably too lazy to read the ticket for customizations. Then on the rare chance they do give you the Queso like they are suppose to, they add the guacamole or pico when you told them to keep it off. But then leave off the Sour Creme which you wanted. They also dont give you the correct sauce you order on the side either. If you want your order right, you better do it it person. It is the only way...
I love Cafe Rio so was very disappointed in this visit. Unfortunately the airport location is definitely an underperforming restaurant. My order wasn’t completed correctly, the mint limeade I ordered was empty, half the sodas were empty, there was no ice and the soda was warm. Tables were dirty and no one was interested in wiping them down. Worst Cafe Rio I’ve ever been to.
Decent prices for an airport spot, and the featured thing, which I got by accident did it custom, then saw the sign was excellent. And the staff was flat DEALING when I was there. This will be my go-to spot during future plane changes at SLC.
They have breakfast burritos at this location. We have eaten here many times now and it has never disappointed. Definitely our go-to before our flights. They recently added kiosks for ordering but they are not easily visible from the main walkway. Didn't notice them till after we waited through the line so make sure to use them!
Food is amazing. Some of the staff are friendly. They need to be more organized. I ordered online and then was told they aren't taking online orders when the screen said my food was ready. They said they would prepare my order right away after I asked where my food was. It took them an additional 20 minutes and most people in line left before me. Considering they prepare the food in a fast food setting that was frustrating.
I ordered a sweet pork burrito and absolutely demolished it. Wish I could show you a photo of my perfectly formed burrito however taking a photo was simply an afterthought following my satiated appetite. Before my eyes, my burrito was formed with ingredients of my choosing in under 15 seconds. I kid you not. The line was cumbersome and yet when I was helped at the front it seemed like there was no wait at all. The utensils, condiments, and drinks were kept filled amd accessible. The tables were cleaned and customers moved through the line like clockwork. I enjoyed my experience and was impressed the efficiency of the workers.
I typically LOVE Cafe Rio but this location is terrible. The line is 3x slower than any other location. The quality of the food was terrible. The meal was poorly out together. The quantity was reduced. The tortilla was not fully cooked. Overall I’m very disappointed with my experience at this location. If you want to experience Cafe Rio for the first time don’t go to this location. I don’t often give poor reviews but this time it’s deserved.
I tried the avocado tacos and when I tell you my mouth fell in love. stop by and give them a try. Tell them I sent you for 20 percent off !!
