My husband and I have been coming here for years and every experience has been a blast. We've rented canoes and packed picnics and cruised lazily down the river, and now we have our own kayaks which they offer their shuttle service for around $8.50-10 per kayak. You must have your kayaks registered by the BMV and provide your own life jackets but they help put you in the river and then shuttle you and your kayaks back to your vehicle easy peasy! Reservations must be 24 hours in advance and the staff are always super friendly and helpful with any questions you have. I highly recommend this for summer fun outdoors with friends or family.
We had the BEST TIME! Great staff! The young lady at the check in rocked. The gentleman helping with equipment was kind to 3 older women! And the guys who helped us onto and off of the water made us laugh and smile. Above and beyond!
We had such a blast! It was very cheap for us to put our own kayaks in and we were very thankful for all the staffs help loading them up and taking us back! We will definitely do this run again!
Terrible. It was all fun until we noticed our kayak filling with water. We stopped at some rocks and tipped the water out. We started on our way and it was filling up again. it filled to the point the kayak sank and flipped into the water. We were all trying to help, we’re in the canal, full of mud. We called them to send help and they said NO. They wouldn’t send anyone. Finally we dragged the super heavy kayak out of the water and all of our things were ruined. We quickly paddled to the end, and went back to the lobby. They seemed to not even care. They gave us a free kayak ride when we come back. Wouldn’t even give us a refund! As if we are coming back after we just fell in the canal due to you not checking if there were holes in your kayaks. We got pictures, videos, they didn’t care. Thanks a lot . . .
A group of five of us rented a kayak and two canoes at the beginning of October and we were the only ones there that Sunday. Owner was super nice and gave us a great recommendation on where to go eat after our 6 mile trip.
We tried to kayak from their location with our own kayaks and got chased away because we weren’t renting their kayaks. When we asked where the next closest drop in location was they shrugged and walked away.m rudely. Unbelievably unprofessional and unkind. We live a ways away and had to turn around after unsuccessfully finding another spot to drop in. Would NEVER give them business. Jerks!
Have been coming to the livery since I started kayaking several years back. Staff is always very friendly and helpful. Have been bringing my own kayaks for the past few years and the process is very straightforward and pricing is very reasonable. Given the current situation with covid, all the employees are wearing masks, they require masks when on the shuttles, and seem to be taking the sanitation of their rental fleet very serious and doing a very through job from what I saw. Glad they were still able to operate this year!
Camping and canoeing here have become a family tradition. I almost hate to post a glowing review because I like it being off the radar somewhat! Primitive campsites are right on the river, and there is a covered pavilion/grill area with tables for use. It's definitely primitive, so charge your phones and stock your batteries. Friendly people, dog friendly camping, and a gorgeous stretch of the river to canoe and kayak. Very affordable rates, and they are doing an awesome job cleaning with the new COVID regulations. Super family friendly. You can walk over to 1 of the 2 ice cream shops, check out the fun toy store, and maybe visit one of the many haunted buildings after dark. We LOVE CFCL!
I definitely recommend! The staff were super friendly and so nice . I had a group of 13 kayaking and camping. We had to push our times twice due to waiting on a couple people from our group. The girls at the counter were really nice and one of the staff guys were really cool . Laid back and such a cool place to have around. definitely will be coming back !
Really quiet and relaxing. Staff is super nice. Parking was non existent because of a parade and even though it said for the canoe livery everyone was parking there so we had to park a ways up the street at a church
