Letter to New Students
Dear Prospective Consumer:
Thank you for your interest in Capital City Tae Kwon Do. Anyone who is interested in learning the art is welcome at our school.
I teach my students respect, obedience, and self-control in a fun yet challenging way. By definition, Tae Kwon Do is a Korean, unarmed martial art. It is not only kicking and punching, but a way of thinking and living. The main goal of Tae Kwon Do is to achieve total mind and body control through proper training.
I have personally studied the art of Tae Kwon Do for 23 years, allowing me to attain my 5th Degree Black Belt and ranking of Master.
My wife Brenda, a 3rd Degree Black Belt , and I are the instructors at Capital City Tae Kwon Do. Periodically, you will meet my two children and three grandchildren when they are visiting New Hampshire. My daughter Kasie and my son Kyle hold a 3rd Degree Black Belt. Kasie received her PhD (ABD) in economics from the University of Pennsylvania and now works as a Senior Content Developer for Cengage Learning. While working from home, she raises her two boys: Cody Charles and Collin Richard. Kyle has recently received his Masters Degree in philosophy at Western Michigan University as well as his Masters Degree in theology at Asbury Theological Seminary. He continues to pursue admission into a PhD program in philosophy in hopes of one day becoming an academic. In the meantime, his daughter, Vera Eileen, in addition to his teaching position at Albion University keeps him busy.
As instructors, we believe, abide by, and teach the five tenets of Tae Kwon Do:
COURTESY
INTEGRITY
PERSEVERANCE
SELF CONTROL
INDOMITABLE SPIRIT
We strive to achieve a harmonious balance in ourselves. The purpose of our school is to provide the means by which students bring out the best in themselves both physically and mentally.
We wish to make this world a better and safer place for humanity through self-control. Our students are instilled with the importance of responsible behavior.
Our Do Jang (school) is a small international community in itself with students from different nations and heritages. Yet, our love and practice of Tae Kwon Do have brought us together. We treat each other as family. It allows us to do the same outside the school.
Honor your family, Allegiance to your country, Trust and support each other, and Speak the truth!!
