Stayed here in March 2020 right before "pandemic" was in full swing, we had a great stay. The breakfasts were amazing and it is in a great location I could see the top of the capital building from my room.Rooms: 4/5
I prepaid for my room months ago through Hotels.com. I was traveling to run in the Credit Union Cherry Blossom 10 Miler and needed something within walking distance to the start. 11 hours before check-in, I was notified that the hotel canceled my reservation. Needless to say, I was unable to find other accommodations less that $400/night.
Hosted a training with 90 people. The hotel was great. Staff were courteous, rooms were clean and nice. Not too high price considering the great location. The food they brought in to the training was very good. And a nice complimentary breakfast. Oh yeah, the location is amazingly close to House and Senate office buildings for fly ins.
It was nice, but I expected a little better. I don't have any major complaints, except for the customer service in bar/ lounge. The gym/ fitness room could use some equipment. There was a breakfast buffet available. The breakfast can be included in some reservation or paid for at entry. Nice sized pool, with a family orientated vibe. There is parking, but it cost about $45 per night. There is very limited street parking, some of it metered.
This hotel is just okay. Checking in was okay. The lobby looks very nice and the room was a decent size. The floor I stayed on smelled of mildew which was a turn off. The bathroom was small and the tub was peeling. It was peeling so bad I thought it was dirty and went and brought products to clean it. There was also a bug in the tub and I could not control the air in my room. It was heat only which is crazy to me. There were also a few stains on the linen.
Had a friend in town that stayed here. It was cute and clean with a retro vibe, but modern things. The pool and pool side bar are great as well. only downside is that even if you are staying at the hotel parking is $40 a day. . . pretty steep when the parking meter is much less. Other than that I'd recommend out of town folks to stay there, reasonable prices too.
The hotel was clean and nicely located. The bathroom was very small and outdated. The biggest issue we had was a power outage that was very poorly handled. The emergency lighting didn't work so we had to use our phones to navigate the halls and dark stairwells. The staff were poorly equipped to handle the situation and were rude when asked about the "free breakfast" and alternatives. The manager told us, after a 6 hour outage and poor safety during, that he would refund our group, but then reneged on this when we all left the hotel. Too bad he over-promised and under-delivered. I trust the fire department was not happy. Tons of risk here.
The best feature of this hotel is its location--a mere 16 minute walk to the Capitol grounds and close to other places of interest such as the main train station Union Station and The Wharf. It also has nice and safe places to walk in the immediate area. The hotel also offers a shuttle to the Capitol every 30 minutes from 7 to 10 am. We didn't bring a car there so I can't comment on parking. The room was nice and clean, but you can't control the temperature. However, you can call the desk and they'll adjust. The hotel is quiet. The front desk staff was responsive and gave us a map of nearby attractions and places to eat when we first got there. They were courteous and allowed us to check out at 12 pm instead of 11 am. Plus, they kept and secured our bags after we checked out so we could see the city one last time before coming back and taking off. They offer continental breakfast but it costs about $9. Overall, if I were to visit DC again, I would choose to stay there again.
First, there's no air conditioner in the room. There's a unit for a fan but it's not AC. So my family was hot every night and my daughter was sick with fever and we were trying to cool the room down and just couldn't. Otherwise it has a pretty good location. Parking was over $30 per day. So the hotel was ok, not sure if we would stay again. Our room didn't have a view so I can't say anything great about it.
Really great value hotel and the staff are nice. Comfortable clean rooms and great bar. There's a free shuttle bus to tourist attractions in the mornings. However I only rate 3 stars because the pool was closed and this was the main reason we booked here. The weather was consistently in high 80's so how silly not to extend the season when it's so hot. We enjoyed bar food on our first night so the next night we arrived back to eat around 10pm as we knew they serve until 1030pm but the kitchen was closed, not great. Would stay again but will compare to other places with regards to the pool.
