I was in Boston for just a couple days but stopped in here because it came highly recommend. No disappointment either! Delicious subs and the stuffed peppers... *Chef's kiss* Make sure you get a jar of those.Food: 5/5
This is the best sandwiches in all of Boston! The cutlets are cooked perfectly and the staff is always friendly no matter how busy they get. But none of this matters if you try the stuffed cherry peppers…. They could call me names and I would still come back begging for those peppers they are untouchable nobody makes them even close to as good As Big nick and his crew. Thanks Nick for the amazing food and all you do for the community
This place is such a staple in the neighborhood. All of the teachers at our school, myself included, frequent this spot for delicious sandwiches and pizza. My personal favorite is the Jeffrey's Point. More than that, the owner, Nick, has been a great ambassador for our McKay school community and generously donated pizzas to school events. He is a great guy and it's a great spot all around!
The local deli has an incredible menu selection. The owner is the kindest person and quiet involved in the community spreading good vibes. Small family owned places like Carmella's is a rarity. We need to appreciate these businesses and support them. If you love subs/grinders, get here. The Italian vibe is real.Food: 4/5
I honestly loved Carmella’s for years until Clark left. Once Clark left the subs got extra small, less cold cuts. asked for a hot pastrami was given roast beef ordered a turkey sub w a little mayo was completely drenched and two Italians that tasted like pure Parmesan 60$ on 4 subs an 2 cans of soda. I respect the hustle but rather go to the yuppies where the new condos in maverick are same price bigger subs and they make what you ask sorry but yea
These delicious subs are massive!! It’s dinner and lunch or plenty to split. You can tell it’s all premium cuts from the deli and that the owner clearly has a passion for sandwiches because everything I try is top notch!!Food: 5/5
I can’t say enough about the quality and size of the subs. My meatball sub was the best meatball sub I’ve had since my Mom pasted away. And the service was warm and friendly. I love this place!!!Food: 5/5
Great experience. The stuffed hot cherry peppers are amazing. Please try them. Not too spicy and the flavor is perfect. Best sour pickles in Boston. Make a special trip to Eastie for this place.Food: 5/5
Carmella's Market... this place is TRULY a neighborhood gem. It is adorably old school Italian, run by family. The business supports other local businesses- using bread from A&L Bakery, selling slush from Slush King, featuring various items from their favorite restaurants and stores. Nick and family are so supportive of all of their fellow neighboring business owners, always wishing them success and not attempting to compete and bring someone down, but to truly find a place at the table for everyone. In addition to supporting local business, Carmella's has been such a staple in the community. Nick and family offer discounts for law enforcement, for first responders, for teachers. He came through for me more times than I can count. He will help make any idea come to life and always went along with my ideas. I was the cochair of the School Parent Council at the Samuel Adams School for a number of years. Nick offered our staff special discounts, he would go out of his way to deliver an extra 2 foot sub when I told him how quickly the food was going at a staff event... he came through for us when I asked for gluten free bread for our teachers with gluten allergies... he brought my little vision of personal charcuterie boards to life. Nick was always a pleasure to work with. In addition to being such a big help with my events at school, my kids love Carmella's. The kids and their friends would beg to go to Carmella's after school for slush. The walk to Carmella's was so much easier for us than walking to Slush King and Nick got his slush from Slush King. My oldest was always so excited to get a fresh sub at Carmella's, and my picky little guy would always find a bag of chips, drink or candy to suit his needs. Nick pretty much always slid in a random treat for the kids on the house. Carmella's has old fashioned "penny candy", Italian groceries, hand stuffed peppers, freshly made meatballs, sauce, cutlets... everything is made with love and is so fresh... just like Nonni would make. Such an old school Italian feel. I love their Italian sub. And they appease me and put lettuce on mine even though that's not traditional. LOL I also LOVE their turkey sub. And really any sub. I just like their food. I don't like peppers but I've purchased the stuffed peppers for my family members for Christmas gifts and they LOVED them. Anyway... I guess I am saying Carmella's is a wonderful place. I hope they are in business for many many decades. They do an amazing job and I'm so proud of how far they've come. Vegetarian options: Nick and family can make a lot of things vegetarian when asked. Especially if asked in advance. The veggie sub is always a big hit for the staff at the Adams. Dietary restrictions: Nick got gluten free subs for the first time for my crew at the Adams School. So happy to see it have a permanent spot on the menu! If you need something special or specific, Nick WILL make it happen. Kid-friendliness: Carmella's is a family business. Grandchildren and littles are often in the store and it makes my kids feel welcome. Some places treat kids like a bother. But not here!
Insane. Absolutely no notes. This place is amazing. The difference is that in a lot of other Italian delis if you order a chicken cutlet, it’s probably pre-cooked and has been sitting around. The first thing you see are Carmella’s is a huge container of marinated cutlets. They coat, season, and cook each of them to order. The difference is massive. Portions are massive and a large sub is an undertaking. The staff is super friendly. Just come here already. Picture is after a long drive home when the sumner was closed. If you have comments about the sog, keep them to yourself.
