Story

Cascadia School is an educational community that offers multi-age Montessori learning environments for elementary and middle school age students. At Cascadia, children learn how to learn instead of just what to learn.

Mission

Cascadia Elementary and Middle School is a Montessori learning environment for students K - 8th grade. Taught by faculty members who represent the highest standards of their profession, our students develop the important life skill of being self-directed learners. Through classroom activities that nurture their inner motivation and offer the fullest possible exploration of their interests, our children are empowered to thrive!

Our family was looking for a alternative to the standard public school experience. Public school for us wasn't to our liking for tons of reasons and then we found Cascadia! In a nutshell our family is blown away by the overall atmosphere. Our son is learning and smiling everyday now, it's amazing what a difference it has made in our lives. The individual attention is wonderful, the child centered approach and teaching them one on one. The classrooms are beautiful and they really take the time to get to know each child and what they need. I wouldn't go anywhere else ever. It's amazing and I would recommend it to anyone. There is nothing that compares and we are so grateful.

Our son is in the 7th grade here. We made the switch from Kings Way & we are so happy we did. The teachers /Barb & Clare/ are more than we could ever hope for. patient.thoughtful.excellent with kids. Academic Excellence period.

The social, spiritual and intellectual benefits of a Montessori education are well documented and information is widely available online so I won't spend time lauding Montessori here. I will just say that Cascadia School is true Montessori with educators that serve the whole child, stimulate their natural curiosity, celebrate their unique attributes and challenge my sons to be their best selves. If I had a middle school experience like my son is getting at Cascadia, I would actually want to repeat middle school! He loves the field study trips in particular, unheard of in public middle schools! Cascadia's elementary programs are exemplary as well. My only regret is that my children haven't attended Cascadia longer, worth every penny!

"You know what is great about my new school mommy? Well, EVERY school has at least one bully... except Cascadia! Everyone is really nice and works together." ~My 8 year old daughter My daughter struggled in a traditional school setting because she was bored. She struggled with arguing at home because she craved independence. Cascadia has helped with both. The Montessori method allows for her to have flexibility in learning subjects, level, and time on task. This not only provides for just the right challenge, it also gives an outlet for her to be independent and feel responsible. Probably my favorite thing is pick up time. When I ask her what she learned she can actually answer, and always does so with a smile on her face and excitement in her voice. Cascadia taught my daughter to love learning again.

My grandchildren attend and they are awesomely independent and inquisitive. And, oh yeah, my amazing daughter Joya is one of the teachers!
