Catnip Cat Cafe

What a great place! Very clean new location. Super neat experience, well put together cat cafe. Employees were very helpful, informative, and kind. Made appointments ahead of time for our family, we were able to get in the next day. We have been to a few other cat cafes across the US, and really liked our experience here. This one was a little different, as the drinks were self-serve, but we were really there for the animals, and never got around to the drinks. I believe they mentioned they had tea, coffee, hot chocolate as some of their options. There were so many sweet cats in the center, and loved their kitten room! It was very hard to go and not take one home. When we were there, we did see a few cats get adopted which was awesome! Love that this opportunity opens up doors for these beautiful cats. Would highly recommend checking this place out! Especially if you're in the neighborhood for a family friend. Kid-friendliness: Took our two school age children, and they were very helpful with them.

I visited the new location on Colley Ave and it is a wonderful place. It is very cozy, brightly lit and charming. The cats are well cared for and seem happy. It was so nice to see adoptable cats in open space. The young lady who greeted me was pleasant and knew about the different cat personalities. There were adoptable kittens in another open room and I spent some time playing with them too. There are lots of toys and playtime is encouraged. The number of guests is limited to prevent crowding for the cats and people. I had a good time at Catnip Cafe.

Such a lovely place! Unfortunately we weren’t able to adopt but the staff were very friendly, and there were 21 cats when we entered. I do recommend making a reservation, as you get to go into the special kitten room, and play with the kittens. The place not only smelled great but was decorated beautifully and kept clean, despite the free-roaming cats! 3 cats got adopted while we were there, and one was getting adopted when we left. It was very spacious and the cats all seemed very comfortable. A few were skittish, which made sense because they were socializing them to people as well as getting them adopted out. I highly recommend this place! Only slight thing I wish was different was there was no food, only complimentary drinks, but that makes sense as they were trying to adopt out the cats, not serve people food. Such a nice place with such nice people and cats. Will definitely be going back when I get the chance!

Cute place to hang out with sweet sociable cats, lovely staff and the complimentary drinks are a bonus! Definitely reserve before coming in so you can have all that time for the cats, also I reccomend coming at the time of your appointment or 1-2 min earlier. If you try to come 15-30 min early especially if you're traveling you will most likely have to wait, it's just like a restaurant reservation or movie ticket. There's a certain number of people that can be inside the cat cafe and they don't want to overcrowd the cats either, makes perfect sense to have a capacity! Check out the merchandise too, I love the socks and gloves they're super soft!

It was a little quaint and small space that was comfy and super nice. The cats were super nice and well behaved! Don’t worry, the cats are perfectly healthy, they’re just a bit silly in the photos. The super flexible cat in majority of the pictures below is named Catspurr, get it? Like Casper? 10/10 would come again.

This place is absolutely amazing, the place was surprisingly spotless. Free coffee and tea, owner is super sweet. All the cats are super cute I love how you can adopt them the day of <3.

If you're a cat person, this is the place for you! It's always fun to play with the kitties, and I've even been to a paint night and a yoga class at their old location they moved a few years ago. Taking away a star bc there are some issues with booking online vs doing a walk in. Came with some friends to do a walk in and the place had just opened and was empty. The girl working was super nice and said they had space for us, and I paid her cash and she started registering us. Then, apparently an online ticket was purchased because she was talking to us for too long before putting us in the computer. She gave my money back and made us leave : would recommend coming for sure, but book online so you don't risk the heartbreak of seeing the kitties and having to leave.

This isn't a cafe, it's more like an adoption center where you can hang out with the cats before adopting. The idea is really cool, but again, it is not a cafe. The refreshments include tea bags and hot chocolate packets and hot water, as well as a coffee pot.

If you have thirty 30 minutes or all day, stop in to Catnip Cat Cafe in the Ghent neighborhood of #NorfolkVA. You’ll decompress, and the stress of the day will slip away. Owner and staff do their utmost to take care of the rescue kitties here and help the rescue groups find the best adopters possible. Time spent with cats is TRULY never wasted.

Catnip Cat Cafe was an interesting experience. There are 10 people allowed in at a time and you pay to play with cats for an hour. If interested, the option to adopt is available. Had a good time and hope to go again This cat was my favorite when I visited
