Such a great hidden gem. I was just looking for a place for taco Tuesday but I’ll definitely be back more often. The food was fresh and good. And the staff was friendly and welcoming. You can eat there or at the bar next door, which is a double bonus if you are trying to have drinks. Definitely give this place a shot. The menu is a bit limited but the options are still good. I only with they had a chicken option.
This place is small but mighty. The chips and salsa were so fresh and packed an amazing crunch. The veggie and crispy lentil tacos were mind blowing good.....like I'm dreaming of these tacos....dreaming and drooling. Just go you won't regret it. Not to mention the ladies that run this joint are just the the sweetest and moat welcoming.
Got in right before they closed, tried the sampler, catfish, carnitas, and brisket tacos. Honestly I loved everything. Wish I wasn't leaving tomorrow. Saved the best for last apparently.
Horrible experience on our 1st and only visit - and we're locals, so we were really looking forward to enjoying a neighborhood spot close to home. First, the food is NOTHING to write home about - the tacos are small and way over-priced and the tortillas fall apart in your fingers. The guac was bland and basic - totally disappointing. I'm honestly surprised so many people think the food here is special. But the "customer service" really sealed the deal for us - the owner wasn't friendly from the start and then snapped when I politely asked if we could come inside with the puppy as it was starting to rain. She threw the health code at me eye roll but I accepted it and went back out side to wait for the food. The food took FOREVER while there were 3 other people eating inside ahead of us. And then a MONSOON hit - the kind that flooded the streets and sidewalks in a matter of minutes. And for her to see her paying customers outside getting SOAKED with wet food and a puppy and not offer us shelter is unreal. Bars and restaurants all over the city welcome dogs inside and it's what keeps the locals coming back! My food got wet so I had to abandon it, and I made it home drenched to the bone with a sopping wet puppy, having to wade through flooded intersections to reach my car instead of getting to sit inside to wait it out - and we probably would have ended up ordering more food and giving her more business if we were inside and dry! There are plenty of other great spots in town with killer food and great service and love dogs. I'll never recommend this place.
Love Catty Shack. The staff there is always more than friendly and welcoming. The entire menu is gluten free, which as a celiac, is awesome not to have to worry. I've had three of the four taco options and they're all delicious. I also really love the queso. One thing to note is that they do a fair amount of business for customers at the bar next door, so the wait time on food could be a bit longer if you judge by the amount of customers inside when you order. It's totally worth the wait, though!
My boyfriend and I stumbled upon this gem after we went to Toast. We never knew how addicted we would be. The tacos are so delicious and the guacamole and queso are sooooo good. I love the inside decor and everyone is so friendly. They have started serving a small selection of alcohol but they even will deliver your food to the bar next door! The menu isn’t very long but why does it need to be when everything is THAT good!? My only wish is that they were open for lunch to feed my appetite ! Our favorite taco place and we are so lucky it’s only a few blocks away from our house. :
This place is great! Tacos are amazing and the staff is really friendly. Although they don't advertise, everything in the menu is gluten free - and nobody even notice it. I look forward to come back next time I'm in Nola.
Holy Guacamoly! The best damn guac and tacos! Our group ordered for the 1st time from this gem on the other side of fairgrounds from us during "Hurricane" Barry, and got practically everything on the menu. The fish tacos are to die for delicious. The crispy beef tacos are scrumptious and the guacamole is ridiculously fresh with chunks if sweet avocado! Had to go back the very next lazy Sunday and get some more! Not kidding! This is a must-go-to!
The food was excellent. I ordered the Big Daddy tacos and they were awesome. The chips and salsa were fresh and delicious. Definitely going to be heading back for more. Highly recommended for anyone who loves good Tex-Mex food
Simple , cheerful little restaurant serving delicious tacos. We loved the fish tacos, but all were yummy. Tasty guacamole and crispy house made chips were great, too.
