Central Iowa Figure Skating Club

Love this club! I was looking for some ice figure skating classes for adults (I'm 22) and called Central Iowa Figure Skating Club. Elena assured me that there's no age or level limit for their Learn To Skate classes, so I decided to enroll for a session. That's just an awesome experience. The coaches are very skilled and caring. They have taught me so many things! Though the class lasts 30 minutes, it's VERY intensive. We practice jumps, spins, crossovers, lunge, etc. The coaches (Innah, Igor and Burton) show us the proper technique of every element and give valuable tips about safe skating. The facility is good as well. They offer free rental skates for LTS members. The skates aren't new, but always sharpened, which is the most important thing!!! And it's not so cold as at some other ice rinks in Des Moines! A huge advantage! Who likes wearing a lot of extra clothes while skating?! So, I highly recommend Learn to Skate Classes at Central Iowa Figure Skating Club! They do a great job!!! Thank you, guys!

Visited their free skate with my wife and took some basic lessons from Elena. She was awesome in providing guidance and after a bit I was comfortable enough to not just skate along the sides of the rink but out into the open. Having never really skated it was a major improvement within practically minutes. Elena is a great teacher and it was fun to watch her instruct her younger students, picking out small details and giving pointers. I have asked her to show some basics moves on the ice and got more than I bargained for, she was simply magical on those skates. I'm sure I'll never master it to her level but it was a privilege to have her teach me and my wife for a bit. Back in Russia Elena and her husband skated professionally and Elena was actually a champion of Russia at one time, although had to practically pull that information out of her since she doesn't throw her rank around. I'm sure we will be back. In the meantime, it's cool to know there is such talent here in Iowa.

Central Iowa Figure Skating Club is a nonprofit volunteer run organization providing the US Figure Skating learn to skate lessons and figure skating lessons. The Club serving the community by enabling and encouraging participation in skating for fun, fitness, and achievement. The coaches are marvelous and seasoned professionals. My daughter is a skater in this club for a while and she successfully passed USFS tests and participated in Regional competition. We are looking forward the Masquerade Ball Winter Show December 13, 2014.

Weather you are a child or adult, male or female, this is a great place to become a better skater. Instructors are seasoned professionals and know how to take you to the next level, step by step. Skating lessons at the Buccaneer Arena is a unique experience because they do not have regular public skating hours.
