This synagogue is beautiful and historic. The Rabbi is an excellent speaker. I had chills from the incredible music. Someone told me they use professional musicians. I can believe it. The music was sublime!
We have watched Central Synagogue on streaming. Beautiful synagogue, Rabbis and Cantors are warm and welcoming. Reform is not my particular level of observance but I enjoy their services and the synagogue does a great job of instilling Jewish רוּחַ to its members and viewers. כל הכבוד
I lived near Central Synagogue andI went once. Now I live in South Carolina and watch as many services that I can. Rabbi Buchenwald inspires me every day. She would make an incredible cantor, therapist—really anything. She chose to become a rabbi and my life has been amazingly enriched. I am not a religious person; have major problems believing in…..But I am Jewish to the core and Rabbi Buchenwald helped me to understand that there is place for people like me in synagogues.
The most beautiful Yom Kipper service. I felt like i was part of the congregation sitting in my living room. Thank you
I didn't take off my bathrobe all day. Yes, the temple is gorgeous as I go occasionally but watching the Yom Kippur services from there is fabulous. I Googled Angela Buchdahl, main rabbi. She was Skull & Bones at Yale...........quite amazing for a South Korean girl married to a Jewish boy. Me, Im a Columbia ZBT almost 80 years of age and many of my friends were sitting in the room. Me, at home on the couch SIMPLY LOVING IT. I kept thinking how Peter Rubenstein was smiling watching all he built was taken to the next level by the rabbi he brought from Westchester as a cantor and who followed him here at Central Syngaogue.......................BRAVO. My guess is that it will be the most world reknowned reformed synagogue.
It's a friendly Jewish Synagogue, just right in the middle of uptown NYC, which is an excellent location. They welcome everyone who wants to attend the service, feasts, etc.
We watch Shabbat service on JBS. So thankful as we cannot get to a Synagogue due to limited mobility. Shalom from IL.
I have never been there but I follow their Live streaming from France! A very high quality clergy! So brilliant, shining, inspirant , bright and so much more...Thank you for sharing and allowing Jews around the world to follow and know you!
Excellent clergy, musicians and chorus combine for an uplifting spiritual service enhanced by wonderful music. Some of the sermons deal with important social issues. However overall an "incomplete" rating because they periodically intentionally omit the followon prayers Vahavtah and Lmaan Tizkru to the Shma prayer which they consider two lines. These integrate with the Shma and are among the most important prayers of the service and only require 1 minute. Examples of omission are when they have baby naming or aufruf ceremonies. Yet they do not curtail other prayers, sermons or even schmoozing.
We live in West Palm Beach, FL , and watch the services on JBS, such beautiful services on the Sabbath, and the High Holidays . Next time we visit NY, would love to attend Sabbath services . Wishing a Happy and Healthy New Year.
