If I could rate CHA eye center Somerville a "0" I would. Their phone center needs major improvement!!! The lady that took my call was very rude to me to begin with, unprofessional attitude as if she doesn't want to help schedule. I called waited over 30 minutes to speak with a live person and she was extremly rude. She told me the appointment was scheduled after agreeing on a date and time and hung up on me. When I called back to confirm the appointment, another lady took my call and told me nothing is in the system for my daughter, it is a total joke there!!! Can't imagine how many others they are doing this too as it seems like it is a normal part of their customer service. It is unacceptable for a hospital to be running this way. I waited 30 min just to talk to a live person for them to lie to me about having an appointment booked. What if I didn't call back to confirm? I would have shown up to be told nothing is scheduled for my daughter! A year before this call I went in for my daughters eye exam we ordered eye glasses and were told in 3 weeks the glasses would come in and I would get a call. Exactly 3 weeks later I called to check the status of her glasses. The lady on the phone had no idea what I was talking about BECAUSE IT WAS NOT IN THEIR SYSTEM AS EVER BEING ORDERED! Then she directed me to the eye doctor to reorder the glasses that shouldve been here. After ordering I asked if I could have confirmation so this doesn't occur again. She told me shes providing me with confirmation and its verbal, no reciept no nothing. It's awful service there and for being a hospital, I don't understand how they are still in business! SAVE YOURSELF THE HASSLE & DON'T WAIST YOUR TIME CALLING OR GOING TO CHA EYE CENTER.
Went to the office today and had the most horrible experience. The lady in the front desk is extremely rude and unhelpful. Went there to have a visit with the specialist and after the exames and I waits for one hour to see the specialist. I had an interview at 12:30 PM so I had to leave without seen the doctor. No one told me how long would take for the eye drop effect to pass. Had to walk blindly on the streets to go back home. Save your money and go to somewhere else.
I went to CHA Eye Center at the advice of my primary care doctor. I arrived late but the staff were courteous and accommodating. The assistants and doctors were warm and friendly and took the time to explain my diagnosis and treatment plan. I will be back!
This place is the worst ever. I had to wait months for an appointment and I arrive on time at 10:15 to find a full waiting room. I'm immediately am told by a receptionist who takes a private cell phone call while I'm waiting that the wait will be at least a half hour. Believe me, prior experience tells me it will be a lot longer. How horrible to go through this time and time again ... so disrespectful. I cancelled and made another appointment but who knows if I'll ever come back.
TL;DR : Do not go here for routine vision appointments! They will charge you as though you received emergency hospital care. I have never written a poor review of a medical provider before, but unfortunately this feels like the final resort. I am lucky to have vision insurance that gives me a no-cost routine vision check-up on an annual basis. However, after going to the CHA Eye Center for a routine vision appointment in February 2023, I was charged $180 in "hospital services." After hours spent on the phone with CHA billing, they still cannot or will not fix this mistake, asserting that because the Eye Center is physically located in a hospital, they can bill separately for hospital charges. They refused to re-code the bill and it seems that I will be forced to pay $180 for routine vision care that insurance would cover if it were coded differently. I previously had nothing but wonderful things to say about the CHA network overall, but this experience has been deeply disappointing and frustrating.
The staff/associates need customer service training. They are very brief, impatient and lack compassion especially with the elderly patients. Seniors citizens deserve respect and dignity. Also, it's not good to comment about the person/patient to your colleagues while on the phone before hanging up... very unprofessional. Professional development is a must..please be of service.
I was there for my eye exam on February and they prescribed an eyeglass for computers only which did not work for my eye. Then, I sent a message to Lixin Zheng, OD via Mychart stating that the prescribed glass is not working for me and to send me another right prescription possibly power on lower side of the glass. In response, they asked me to make an appointment as Lixin Zheng had to see my glasses. Then, I make an appointment for July and went for quick prescription change which lasted less than 5 minutes, as he did not do any tests on my eyes, because I had already done on my 1st visit. He just changed my prescription on his computer. At the end, they sent me a bill with description as eye exam services again as I had already done one Feb and paid the full expense. SERIOUSLY???? Even the 2nd prescribed glasses is not working for me computers use only. I have been calling multiple times to dispute the charges to CHA billing department. Its so hard to get the right answer to resolve the issue. Every time, I call them I have to explain the whole situation from the beginning not sure if they keep records in their system but every individuals says they have made a note of the issue. As always after a long wait on phone, one of the team members suggest me to call the hospital and get it fixed but no answer, and other advise me to send message via Mychart which I did and some suggest me to reach out to Nancy Sacone where I left voice messages many times but never heard back from her. Honestly, the bill amount is less then hundred bucks after my insurance covered parts of it but I do not feel its fair as the charges is not right.I HAVE BEEN TRYING TO RESOLVE THIS ISSUE SINCE OCTOBER AS PER THEIR SUGGESTIONS, BUT STILL ITS PENDING. DO NOT GO TO THIS PLACE!!!!! THIS PLACE RIPS YOU OFF!!!!!!
Extremely long wait times. Arrived when the clinic opened at 9:30, got called in at 10:30 by some assistant or nurse my appointment was at 10, had my eyes dilated and did some simple reading tests with and without my glasses, then told to sit in a different waiting room starting from 10:45. Sat there until past 1pm before the doctor called me in there's only one doctor there so patients go in one at a time, which is ridiculous, he typed up my reason for visit needed a new prescription, he shined a light in my eyes for two seconds and then told me I was set. 3.5 hours for an updated prescription is ridiculous. Next time I'll try a different CHA center, or better yet I'll find somewhere else to do my eye exams.
The customer service at this place is very poor. I arrived 11 minutes late to my appointment and I knew I had to wait a bit longer. The customer service rep. treated me very poorly. In a very judgmental tone she said to me that I would have to wait 30 minutes because I was 15 minutes late. I pointed out that I was 11 minutes late and then she said that the doctor was running 15 minutes late and that that was the reason that I was going to be seen 30 minutes late. I knew I was late and I did not need for her to pass judgement on me and have a punitive tone with me. She should have just told me that the doctor was running 15 minutes late. I love the doctor I am seeing but customer service is very important to me. I will most probably change doctors because of this incident.
The wait time is long, but usually all doctor's offices are. I read the other reviews that said the staff is rude, I haven't a problem with them. They were not rude to me. The only complaint I have is that I was given a new prescription for glasses and the optical store at this office was closed due to the person in charge was on vacation for 2 weeks. I had ordered new glasses online from another company that I have recently used about a year ago with no problem.. I sent in the same prescription I was given and when the glasses came back I can not see clearly out of them. Now I need to make another appointment and waste my time.
