About

CCMA holds exhibits from its Permanent Collection of art representing the California Style movement, and exhibits the art of prominent local artists.

Story

The Permanent Collection of the CCAA Museum of Art represents many of the most prominent artists of the Western United States from 1920 to date. The Barbara Line Collection consists of works of art from the California Style. Inspired by the unique quality of light and the geographic features found in the coastal, mountain and desert areas of the Far West and Mexico, the California Style lourished from the 1920s to the 1950s. Salient examples of this school can be found in the watercolor paintings of Millard Sheets, Rex Brandt, and Milford Zornes.
Some of the finest works of art by regional artists are also represented in the Permanent Collection: the art Anders Aldrin, Leon Amyx, Loren Barton, Conrad Buff, Emil Kosa, Jr., Thomas Craig, Phil Paradise, John Svenson, Anna Wilson, and Robert Wood.
Each year, CCMA opens six exhibits in the Main Gallery and has additional exhibits in the South, Spotlight and Line galleries. The Museum also conducts educational programs for adults and children and offers open modeling sessions for artists.
