Megan Tim made life horrible for me. Don't rent from her don't let her trick you into paying illegal 1st last & security deposit
The best property management team I’ve ever had! Over the course of two years, Melissa Johnson and her team have responded within 24 hours of every service/maintenance request; they are always available. We are a military family and have rented a number of properties over the past seven years around the world, and it is sincerely comforting to have a group of individuals you can count on when “home issues” arise. Additionally, in each scenario, this property group has utilized quality and vetted individuals giving confidence repairs are done right the first time, every time. It is unfortunate that our family is transferring, because I am sure we will not find elsewhere property managers as responsive, ethical, and customer-service oriented as Melissa and her team.
Moving from out-of-state it was important for us to find a realtor who knew the Norfolk area, one who would be available when we were in town, and someone with the experience to handle any last minute issues. We found that and so much more in Claudia Mackintosh. She listened carefully to our goals and found us the perfect retirement condo. She never wasted our time, she is an excellent communicator, and she's smart - she really knows the real estate market in this area. We highly recommend Claudia Mackintosh to anyone looking to buy or sell in this area. Her knowledge, experience and wonderful personality make her second to none in our book.
I have lived in my rental home for 3 years and have recently had the worse maintenance experience. I do not understand why you have a management department when no one is managing. I have a full time job and I do not have the time to keep calling to get my work orders fixed that still aren't fixed. It has now been 2 months that I have not been able to use my second shower but yet you get my rent on time each month. I took it as far as having the property manager come to the home and review what we need fixed and that was almost a month ago and still only 1 item has been fixed since then and that was to replace a faucet that I bought. Nancy Chandler Associates you can do better than this.
Nancy Chandler and Associates are nothing but a scam. They make it nearly impossible to move out, mandating tenants professionally clean the units and floors using only their approved vendors. What is the point of having a security deposit if you're going to insist tenants come out of pocket several hundred dollars to do their job?! They have terrible customer service, never responding to maintenance calls, or saying someone will be out to fix things but never showing up. I absolutely will NEVER recommend their business to anyone, tenants or owners.
Check them out at Yelp too...1out of 5!! After problems with my old property management company I contacted Chandler realty to handle my property...I should have stayed with the first company! The problems with Nancy Chandler property management are manifold: • My interests and that of my property are insignificant compared to the desires and complaints of my tenants. Whenever they say jump my agent jumps—right on my back! without checking, inspecting or notifying me first, despite the fact that I pay her to to take care of me and my home. When you sign a contract to provide a service and then don’t adequately provide that service to the PAYING PARTY, that’s breach of contract. • Despite being a “woman-run” business, the behavior of the employees is distinctly misogynist. Often I would be placated, patronized and bullied over text, email, and phone while our manager went behind my back to deal directly with my husband who told me about this double dealing and story-changing often using contradictory information. • Our tenants have only been in the house for 3 months and have already racked up $1570 in “repairs”. Each time a repair is done, NC management tells us the problem was pre-existing or something was installed wrong...my property is 12 years old built in 2006 and we didn’t have that many repairs in the first TEN YEARS! Me and my wallet are being taken for a horrifying and dishonest ride. • The problems with this company, however, go beyond our own property manager. Each person that I have dealt with, even up to the Vice President of the business, has had the same I-don’t-have-time-for-you attitude, and often boderline belligerent tone. In short, I would never choose this property management company again, nor would I ever recommend them. And certainly don’t expect any different if you are a veteran; despite their being in an overwhelmingly military community, they couldn’t give a single care about your service. If I could give them NO stars I would. But if you’re a renter, by all means choose them, they will bend over backward to service you, even though you won’t be paying them a cent! They’ll bankrupt the owner/landlord and drive them to medical problems but as a renter you’ll be pampered.
The agent we dealt with did not bother to tell us that they already had applications from other people for the same house we applied to until we had $210 worth of application fees turned in. But she was rude to several people in our group that was looking to rent together. And they also refused to meet up and talk about a potential refund for misleading us and mistreatment. The other group also got approved for the house by bribing the land owner by offering to put down extra months rent as a deposit and we were never offered the same deal.
Nancy chandler found my dream home in Norfolk. The first of 6 homes owned in my life that I hope to live in 30+ years. I did not find it in search for the home was out of my budget. The realtor showed me the listing, the history of price drops and said, let's see it, and if the one, make an offer for they want to sell quick. It was the one and they accepted my offer. This would not have happened without them and I believe other agencies would not have done this level of research. Although this happened 14 months ago, I had to comment in light of the poor reviews... which appear to be from renter issues and probably, one sided for Chandler did not respond. It is a shame that people who are really happy with chandler do not write here. I felt compelled after seeing a low score for a company that changed my life.
Home shopping and buying from three quarters of the way across the country could have been a nightmare experience. Working with Ashton made it a real breeze. She worked with us through every step of the process. She provided us with great recommendations to consider and end the end helped us with all of the things to make closing easy and painless. I would recommend Chandler Realty and specifically Ashton to anyone looking to buy or sell a home.
LESSEE BEWARE!!! I am very disappointed in Nancy Chandler Associates dishonest “revised” move-out charges for the property at 1411 Melrose Parkway. I was charged $612.46 for a front door replacement. According to your maintenance man, the door was rotted and had been worked on before we moved into the property. The door was then replaced with an old door found at the dump and we were charged an exorbitant $612.46 for a used door that was not our responsibility. A rotted door is the responsibility of the owner not the tenants! In addition, we were never told there would be a charge for the door and never received an invoice for the door. Nancy Chandler took the money for the door out of the rent money! We were never notified of your decision to take the money from the rent. This is deceitful, dishonest, and unprofessional. We were also charged $250.00 for landscaping. I assume this money was used to spruce up the property for the owners since they put it on the market for sale. Again, dishonest! We were charged a $600.00 pet default fee. I’m not sure why there was a pet default fee, since there were no pets, other than the rats that frequented the property. We requested pests control but this was never done by Nancy Chandler Associates, so we had to do it ourselves. Later, we learned underneath the home was infested with rats. When we moved out of the property, we used your cleaning service that you recommended. I would think if this was your house cleaning service, the house would be spotless. We paid $300.00 for the cleaning service and inspected the house. It looked very clean to me. If it wasn’t up to your standards, then you should have notified us and your cleaning service. On two separate occasions, someone tried to break into the home. The city and university police were called, took fingerprints, but were not able to locate whoever tried to break in. We had to install a wireless security system that costs us a $600.00 set-up fee and then a monthly fee thereafter. We are still paying for this service, since we had to sign an agreement with the security company, even though we no longer live at 1411 Melrose Parkway. As a licensed realtor in Virginia, and as a co-signer on the lease, I am very disappointed in the lack of professionalism and dishonest behavior of your management company. After numerous calls to the property manager, not once did she ever return our calls. We had to constantly call back and ask for her manager, Lisa Chandler, to speak with anyone. I know in the real estate business if I did this to my clients, I would be fired on the spot, and rightfully so. As tenants and a co-signer, other prospective tenants need to know about the lack of professionalism and dishonest activity by Nancy Chandler Associates.
