This is a good place to stop for lunch. I ordered the Lunch Combination Plate and everything was good, but the enchiladas were what really stood out. Whatever sauce they use there is incredible. Prices and service were great.
Had the #45 Plato Estilo San Luis and two fajita one-taco in separate orders - one chicken and one beef. The #45 was large, had ample steak, covered with lots of mushrooms, bell peppers, onions, cheese. Good amount of refried beans and Mexican rice. Tasted very good - beef was tender. A measly bit of lettuce and a slice of tomato. Both tacos had substantial amount of meat, but since it was packed in one box, they only gave one thin quarter slice of tomato and very small amount of lettuce - definitely an oversight. Order automatically came with free chips and be a very spicy salsa that's bottle-and-sell worthy.
What a gem of a late-night spot! The bars may close at 2, but swing by here during the next two hours for some of the heartiest and cheapest drunk food in town. Additionally, the staff are incredibly accommodating, and there are many of them on shift even at the latest hours. You can truly tell this is a family-owned business with heart. My friend and I mutually agreed *this* is where going every time we're hungry after the bars! If you're getting bored eating at the same taco truck over and over during your Montrose bar hop, swing by here; you will not be disappointed and will probably save a few bucks, too. Vegetarian options: Plenty, actually. Lots of vegetable options for numerous dishes, especially spinach. Kid-friendliness: If the kids like Mexican food, bring 'em! Parking: The lot is actually mostly parking. The restaurant itself is cosy. Wheelchair accessibility: It might be difficult to get a wheelchair in the door. I admittedly didn't measure! Dietary restrictions: Good for vegetarians and gluten-free Mexican food fans.
Really good food!!! Came in here for a late snack and was pleasantly surprised at their extensive margarita/drink menu and their food was so delicious! Torta loca was perfection! Did not really think it would be delicious enough for me to Review but!!!! Wow Omelet a la Mexicana was so delicious I had to stop and post this Doesn't look like a fancy place but food is amazing!!!! Get a chance stop by you won't regret it!!!!
Normal tasting food. The place is old and has an odor. Only one choice of salsa. The fresh water ain’t fresh. It’s made with the sugar packet. Like Mexican koolaid. For authentic I would go elsewhere.
Waitress was awesome and food was excellent... I will be going back... Well until next time signing off Two Peas
This is quickly becoming one of my favorite go to restaurants. My Fidello con Pollo was served hot and soupy in a bowl with tender dark chicken meat, carrots, onion and whole jalapeño served with tortillas, hot sauce and chips. They’re prices are beyond reasonable while most restaurants are raising their prices Chapultepec Lupita’s is giving it away.
1st of all to Mario Guttierrez who rated 1Star. Why are all the events you described labeled White woman, Black man, Mexican man, white man? Lol this is Houston! I thought we were ALL just "People" here. Anyway I've been patronizing this place since the 80s and although food quality has roller coastered over the years my most recent visit was great. Sometimes the salsa is overspiced making it TOO hot to actually enjoy it but it was full of tomatoes peppers and other ingredients which made it thick and tasty. My heat tolerance is very high since I eat a lot of spicy foods but on that night it was so hot it numbed my taste buds for everything else. Tried the chimichanga and it was super great. So was my waitress that night who checked on me regularly to make sure I had everything I wanted and that I was satisfied with my food. Kid-friendliness: Kids menu and family friendly Wheelchair accessibility: Ramps throughout the restaurant make it accessible to all.
This place has been a favorite of mine since the early 90s. Although the area has changed around it greatly, they still serve up the greasiest, gooiest flameado in town. I hope the rich people do not end up buying this place up and replacing it with a nail salon.
