Purchased two cabinets to be made with antique doors a few months ago. Paid half the costs up front. Got a call that they were ready and to come get them. They only load Thurs, Friday and Saturday. I was working so my girlfriend went to pick them up. She called me on the way back up I65 coming back home....a 4 hour one way trip.... and told me that she had them. She said that the funny thing is though that they have no backs. I asked her why and she said that the loaders at Charles Antiques said that backs would make them too heavy. So, I get sold two cabinets for $975 each and have to construct my own backs for cabinets? I called Charles immediately. His response is that he lost money building them and that we asked that no backs be put on them. Please the ticket said cabinets.....not cabinets w/o backs. Charles then said just to bring them back. He would be glad to get them back especially since they should have been TWICE the price that we paid. What a way to run a business! You run into a situation where you are wrong and instead of admitting that you made a mistake....you respond by saying "just bring them back and I will give your money back because I underbid the project".?! So, you underbid the project and you cut corners because of your error. If you price something to a customer, you should hold to your price. We didn't ask for a discount. We asked for a price for cabinets (like some in the store), by the way all we looked at had backs in them. Loved the place and loved the stuff because we like antiques and wood items but the business acumen is lacking to say the least. That is my experience with Charles Phillips and Charles Phillips Antiques and Architecturals and my GOOGLE review of this business.

Great place to find unique pieces built from reclaimed doors and shutters! All kinds of different tables for large and small dining areas. Large selection of smalls as well!

What an amazing place! I'm not sure if the house at Bellingrath Gardens is even a close second for the best place to spend a sunny afternoon looking at beautiful furniture. I have 8' ceiling but that didn't stop me dreaming of ways to use the 10'+ doors and furniture. I'll definitely return.
