Checker cab has generally been good to me. They're always the cab I call first. Today dispatch estimated a 45 minute pickup time, with apologies. I couldn't wait because I had a flight to catch, but kudos for honesty. Yellow cab dispatch estimated 5-10 minutes. 20 minutes later I called and emphasized I had to catch, was told driver was making a drop-off in my area and would "be there any minute". 45 minutes after my first call I cancelled. Never use Yellow. At least Checker is honest.
I had a flight scheduled this evening and had called earlier in the day to schedule pick up. The Dispatcher was very helpful and polite and my driver went above and beyond by calling and letting me know he was stuck in traffic due to an accident and would be approximately 10 min late. I will most decorate use their services in the future.
I've always received great service from this cab company in the past and I used to call them, because the yellow cab blocked me on their call despite me paying for them every time I get a ride from them. But today, was different. I didn't order a ride or called them orange checker cab, but they called me? Now I'm thinking did somebody order me a ride? I don't know. I haven't called a cab since last year in May. I wonder who's doing this to me. Be careful out there.
Make sure to never use this company if you actually need a cab at a specific time. We ordered a cab for this morning to take our family to the airport. I specified last night that I needed a van for car seats and luggage. The dispatch woman called me at the time of pickup to let me know that there was no van available to come get me until later. So, we are now driving to the airport, will have to frantically unload our things, Park, and oh yeah, pay for parking for our two week trip. Guess I will download the Lyft app for my future taxi needs.
I had a terrible experience with Checker Cab...I would have missed my flight had I not called another company. They did not tell me that there was going to be any problems getting a cab to my hotel when I called, but when 45 minutes had passed and I was getting nervous, I called. I was informed that there was nothing they could do to speed the process, and I told them I was headed to the airport and worried about missing my flight. The lady on the phone started hanging up on me as I was trying to explain...it was bizarre, and I had to finally give up and call Yellow Cab, who arrived in 10 minutes. I never write reviews, but was so shocked by the poor service on the telephone by the overnight dispatcher that I had to post something....do not use this company if you need a cab within a certain period of time!!
I had two drivers in one day and neither of them knew anything about customer service or being polite. Communication was VERY poor. The first driver slowed down on our street but never stopped or called to let us know he was here. Then he turned around and was flagged down by 2 other people. He picked up the wrong two people and when we called the dispatcher she said she would fix it. He then dropped the people off back and their house and came to tell us that a new cab would come shortly. Then he drove off with an empty cab and 2 groups that didn’t have a ride. Both groups had to wait for 2 separate cabs to come back
This company will NEVER get my business again!!! CALL OR USE ANOTHER COMPANY!!! I was at the airport needing a ride to a residence. The FIRST thing I said to this company representative the driver was "Do you take credit cards?" He replied, "yup" We get all the way to the residence "Oh, my machine doesn't work, I'll take you to an ATM." "Uh, NO!!! That was why I asked you if you take CC's!!" Immediately puts the car into drive and says "well I'll just take you back to the airport and you can do this again!!" I consider this a form of unlawful detention, but kept my cool and did not lash out at the driver. Then drops me off at departures instead of the taxi stand. Filed a complaint with the company and the Manager named mike his final resolution was "Well just don't call us again!" and hangs up the phone. I didn't call them in the first place! If anyone in this town uses them for WHATEVER reason and you provide a service to the community I will ALSO not use your service AND blast you as well!! I HOPE THIS COMPANY GOES UNDER!!
I waited forever for the cab and when he got to my location, he almost ran me over! , when I got into the cab, it smelled like B.O. and the driver was on his phone and not even paying attention, the meter was already set so he was trying to charge me extra so he can get more money out of it, the communication was very poor I had to tell him where exactly to go because he didn't know where he was going. When I finally arrived at my destination. He ran my card but conveniently his computer broke, this is the second orange cab that this has happened. And he told me to call him to pay him later. I don't recommend this cab whatsoever ever.
Called about getting a cab, the dispatcher told me it would be 15-20 minutes. They never showed up and never called back. Yet I'm sure they would be quick to tell you how terrible Uber and Lyft are. I would not rely on this or any of the current cab companies if you had to be anywhere with even the slightest sense of urgency.
Called Yellow Cab on behalf of my business, requested that a cab come to pick up two employees in 20 minutes. Dispatch told me the cab would be there in 5-15 minutes because I'm downtown and close. I told her that I needed the cab in 20 minutes. Extremely rudely, she responded "I need more time for a scheduled pick up so either the cab will be there in 5-15 minutes or you can call back when you need it" then hung up. Yellow Cab dispatch - rude as hell. I called Checker Cab and the woman who answered pleasantly scheduled a pick up at the time I needed. Personally, I've always had better experiences with Checker Cab as a whole dispatch, drivers, etc., I don't even know why I called Yellow Cab in the first place. Never again. Checker Cab FTW. The driver just got here and told me "I am here whenever you are ready". Checker Cab provided a much more professional experience.
