The staff here are very kind. Unfortunately didn’t enjoy the food very much. If I remember correctly, we got the Szechuan style shredded beef. This is listed as spicy, it definitely was not. The portion size was enough for two people to share. We also got the spring rolls which were meh. If you have a larger group this place could definitely accommodate you. I think the prices are also pretty decent compared to other places in the area.
I met my big homie here as he said their lunch special was a quick meal and a potential inflation buster. Nothing gets me out of bed like a potential inflation buster... Chef Yu is like a Chinese version of Buca Di Beppo. A big space with ample room and huge portion sizes at decent prices, but just straight Americanized... they don't even give you chopsticks ahahahaa. But Buca Di Beppo does have its time and place lowkey...they don't wanna have that conversation though. The menu was huge, but I went straight to the lunch specials as you know why I'm here. I got the spicy diced chicken, and I swear to god it came in under 5 minutes from the time the words "spicy diced chicken please" left my carmex filled lips. It came a little too quick haha as now I am fully aware that they have a big pot of that chicken on simmer in the back and just go and scoop it out, or they just throw it in the microwave and bring it right out to you. They should have just waited 10 min and I wouldn't have batted an eye. However at $11.95 and a portion big enough for 2, this EASILY qualifies as an inflation buster. The mix of chicken, white rice, and vegetables was honestly pretty damn good I can't even lie. It didn't have me feeling like I was going to die after like some americanized Chinese food does. I ate the whole thing because the chicken did SLAP, and when you from where I'm from you don't leave food on the plate. I'm also just an animal and built different so please don't beat yourself up if you can't finish it... Another reviewer said "the food is like an upscale Panda Express," and I couldn't agree more. Nice comparison Emily C, keep doing you we see you workin! Call it in. Tell the good people. Inflation is in TROUBLE. Chef Yu's lunch special is on its head!!!!! IG @jnov_ Tiktok @jnov__
Was in NYC for the weekend, did a quick google search for Chinese food near my hotel…found Chef Yu. The older gentleman that took our order was very polite, food was ready in 10 minutes. The ambiance was beautiful, modern, sophisticated and not crowded. Seated as soon as my husband and I walked in. Food was fantastic, the best beef and broccoli I’ve had in a long time. We will definitely be back next time we are in NYC.
Terrific Chinese food near Penn Station. Pan fried noodles with shrimp was delicious. Excellent light sauce, crisp noodles, succulent shrimp. We also had soup that was delicious. I will be returning.Food: 5/5
We are so happy to have found this Chinese restaurant! Clean, spacious, fine dining place with quite reasonable price with white table cloth. The food came out so fast and we were so impressed with the quality and taste. I am Asian and have tasted plenty of Chinese food, so I’m quite particular when it comes to Chinese restaurants. The waiter was friendly and attentive. Such a pleasant experience overall.
The spicy beef stew noodle is delicious and soooo cheap! It is only $11.99 with a lot of beef! And in midtown. Who would thought, and it is not busy at all during lunch time so fast service as well! I personally think this noodle tastes better than xi’an famous food, slurp kitchen and all other restaurants. The beef is savory and the spiciness is just about right! It is my favourite place now and great services as well Chinese restaurant don’t like to check on you as they prefer to leave you alone don’t interpret that as bad service hahah
A surprisingly spacious restaurant in Manhattan. The menu is large, with plenty of vegetarian choices. Try the vegetarian or pork dumplings in soy and peanut sauce. The whole fried fish was delicious. The fried rice is good to share aroubd the table. Service was attentive, and the food comes out pretty fast. Prices, given Manhattan, were closer to reasonable for such a nice place.
The taste and portion of the food was just good. The staff's response was excellent and i filled a satisfying meal.Food: 5/5
this was terrible i didn’t ask for this plain no taste good smh… please don’t waste your money pecking Duck is better and the Thai restaurants on w 48 st is better , this the worst asian food in NYC, not professional and if you they mess up your order they won’t fix itFood: 1/5
Very neat clean and quiet place. Was able to get good flavorful Asian food closest to the style we find in India. Pan fried noodles and lo mein were excellent. Wouldve loved more veggies in the dishes. They also have a lunch menu that comes with rice, it would be nice to have an option of noodles too for those that don't eat rice. Me and my daughter visit this place often and look forward to try more dishes. Our main problem is that we don't eat lamb, beef, pork, rice. Highly recommend this place anyway.
