The worst ever. Checked in with my son temp at 104. 2 hours passed. My son vitals wasn’t even taken. I had to give him Motrin in the waiting room that we brought from home. Still waiting. Alabama is sad in healthcare!! I should have drove him to Georgia!!! We are still waiting for vitals.
Staff is great and care is higher than expected. My biggest problem is the cafe. Everything looks so good! But when you actually taste it, it tastes horrible! How do you mess up shrimp? I was so excited to pay that 7 bucks for just shrimp and 3 drinks and then I take a bite and throw it all away. I haven't tasted one meal I like here. I'ma starve before my daughter gets out of this hospital
BEWARE OF THIS HOSPITAL! They will FORCE A COURT ORDER if you don't agree with the doctor's "care" for YOUR CHILD!!! They will take your parental choice and rights away! Judge always agrees with the hospital. If you need expert care go to Children's Hospital of Atlanta NOT in Birmingham!! The lead doctors are rude, not compassionate, forceful. They will treat you as if you know nothing because they are doctors and your just a parent. There is NO HOUSEKEEPING, nasty dirty hospital, if you order food to your room it takes hours to arrive and is cold. Care staff are rude, act like she was 'doing me a favor getting supplies for my ill family member who was a patient ' but it's the care teams job description. Wish I never came to this hospital for care for my family member. If I could get NEGATIVE STARS I would!! -100
Horrible hospital, they will force court orders on you to "protect themselves and the hospital". ZERO patient care thoughts. They are money hungry! Dr. Wilson should NEVER practice medicine. She has ZERO bedside matter. She is rude, demeaning, makes parents feel like they don't know how to care for their own children. Dr Wilson talks down to people. I will not return to this hospital. I do not recommend this hospital at all. It's all about money money money. They don't care about your kids just themselves.
Went to emergency room emergency room, wouldn't allow me to go in with child, claiming covid, too many people... but waiting room full of well unmask children and adults. Security guard allowed many other ethics into waiting room. Security guard wouldn't even speak to me the first time I walked up to Him asking questions...
My wife and daughter are down here helping her mom out. Our daughter came down with something last week. Doctors in Demopolis were fairly certain she came down with Kawasaki Disease. Advised them to go to Children's in Birmingham on Friday. I took an emergency flight from where we live to fly down to be with them. The staff were so kind and great. Always asked if we needed anything. Doctors were great too. Bed side manners were awesome. If something bad happened again while in Alabama, I'd definitely bring my daughter back.
Ethel at the information desk was extremely rude. She made my night harder than it needed to be. She refused to give me a visitor’s pass and kept sending me back and forth to other places in the hospital, all of which sent me back to her. It took over an hour for her to help our family with what we needed. When she finally gave us our visitor’s passes she did it without a single word. She didn’t even look at me. I would greatly appreciate an apology from her. It was extremely rude and concerning behavior on her behalf and I hope something is done about this. If you have the resources, go to any other hospital. Do not come here. You won’t be taken seriously.
My son had a dental procedure in clinic 9 and everyone was so nice and supportive. All staff were careful to make sure my son was as comfortable as possible. DR. LUGO, a dentist from clinic 9, did the procedure and was the most kind hearted and friendly dentist Ive ever brought my children to. She made the experience especially smooth and upbeat; with kindness, thoroughness, smiles and being there to answer all questions. I knew my son was in great ha ds from start to finish. Thank you Dr Rizzo and staff.
I'm giving 3 stars because the majority of staff are very nice and helpful BUT my 2 week old daughter has been here since Monday 12/5/2022 and has not been able to rest AT ALL. She's had over TEN needles in her since she got here all just trying to get blood. Blowed 2 veins so far and my daughter is so exhausted she can barely cry anymore even from pain. This is BEYOND sad and I'm about ready to leave this place with my child and not look back. She don't deserve this nor is it necessary. The majority of what they do is to collect insurance money. They make BANK off these kids and they give them more meds and testing than they really need so they can continue to make bank. I'll gladly speak with someone about this. Listening to a doctor's opinion is what got us here to begin with. Update: we are home and she is 100% better but I told the doctors we aren't asking if we can go home we are telling you we're going home because they wanted to keep her there another day for no reason so they ended up telling us we could leave because they knew we were leaving anyway.
Everyone at Children's of Alabama from the Nurses, Doctors, Respiratory Therapists to everyone in between were amazing. We were in the PICU and then transfered to Pulmonalogy. They take the time to listen, explain, address your concerns, make you feel at ease, attend the rounds and work with you. I had great conversations with them and learned a lot. We ran into some issues within the hospital but never when it came to the care of my child. Courtney, Glenda and Annie from RT were amazing. They were very patient, taught me many things and held conversations during my times of unease. There were two very special RNs during our stay, Kelseyday shift and Sarahnight shift that always went above and beyond and advocated for my daughter and celebrated our victories. I was at ease knowing they were there. Thank you from my whole heart.
