China Fair is such a great spot outside Porter Square! So many affordable kitchenwares and gadgets. Lots of things I didn’t know I need. The basement is a little sketchy but great prices and especially comes in handy before the holidays or after moving into a new spot!
Love this place. Dishes, glasses, house wares, utensils, party supplies... The list goes on. One of my personal favorites to get there is unique bowls of all different sizes from different countries that are painted in bright colors.
You can spend a lot of time here looking at all the odds and ends. There's something new each time. They have a lot of cute little pastry molds and interesting bakeware. I'm always surprised to find things that I never knew existed like a tool to hull strawberries. Also don't miss the basement for lots of open stock glass bowls, ceramics, and random things. In addition to cookware and dishes, they always seem to have a large selection of dried herbs and Trappist jams.
Amazing. You have to appreciate this place for what it is. If you come here with high expectations of getting everything on your shopping list you may be disappointed but otherwise it’s a great place to shop. The cast iron selection is excellent! Good selection of glasses and other random table wears.
In this day and age it is lovely to find a mom-and- pop store--and a giant one at that--that sells fairly priced items for every day use. Not just China, but kitchen tools, kitchen essentials, cutting boards, coffee machines, glassware, containers, large pots, quality knives, etc. They also pack your items for you. I just love the place and its large space.
My name is Joey and I have a kitchen gadget problem. My sister pointed China Fair out to me a few weeks back and I quickly added it to my list of places I needed to spend money. It's got a lot of gadgets for a pretty good price. Everything from Pizza Peels to Coffee Makers to plates. The selection is only so-so. I feel like typically it's on the cheap side of things, but for things like a lime juicer, you can't really go wrong. I'm not gonna lie, this is a dangerous place if you like kitchen gadgets. If you are like me you will find yourself picking things up and saying "you know, now that I think about it maybe I DO need a meat tenderizer" I'm a vegetarian. I found it easy to navigate, and pretty decently priced. There were a few things I couldn't find but after asking the staff they typically knew where it was/if they had it. They actually offered to call their other location and get bench scrapers sent over so that when I came back again. All in all if you are in need of some cheap kitchen accessories or just want to see what they have to offer, I highly suggest stopping by China Fair
If you need any kitchen related, non-appliance item you have to get it here. They have so much dish ware and bakeware all at reasonable prices. It’s great for things you wouldn’t really find in normal stock at other stores, like oversized baking sheets, a variety or cast iron, or various tiny dishes for condiments and such. It is also really fun to walk through the aisles and discover products you didn’t know you needed. A great store in a great location.
Affordable restaurant quality dishes and cookware. It's a lot of fun to browse
Everyone in our neighborhood has been buying all their cooking and serving stuff from this place for years at the Newton location. Excellent quality at terrific prices, and kind and knowledgeable staff that is very helpful. From every kitchen gadget you can imagine to incredible knives, to wonderful dinnerware at reasonable prices, all kinds of essentials. This place is a family tradition...ours AND theirs...and every visit is rewarded with something useful and highly affordable. The old store in Cambridge was burned out, but now you folks are lucky, China Fair is back in town!
I honestly didn't think the prices or selection was that spectacular. They're average and if you're looking for a quick fix they're easy. The quality is fine as far as I can tell. The glasses don't seem too think and the bowls and plates seem sturdy enough. For the price they're simply okay. Compared to crate and barrel with coupon or TJmax it seems similar.
