So I'm a bit torn between 4 and 5 stars. Customer service was great - very friendly and really sweet lady. She made our first time here so. It felt like I was a guest at someone's home because of the warm and positive ambiance. We ordered the beef tofu soup and it was actually bigger than expected! It came with a rice bowl for each of us there's a total of 3 and we all enjoyed the spiciness and the flavor of the soup. Wow. I'll be coming here for the soup during the cold weather. Then we had the steam dumplings was pretty good with the sauce added but nothing special. Also ordered the Japchae, bulgogi and galbi. Bugolgi was a bit too sweet for me but it was still good. Galbi was my favorite. The charred taste to it definitely added so much flavor. Japchae was in large portions for all of us to chair. Between the 3 of us, it was more than enough and we left full and satisfied. Also ordered 2 bottles of soju - Citron and Peach. They're both a bit too sweet for me and it wasn't as strong as I am use to. However that's no fault of the restaurant. It's just this specific brand. My boyfriend like the Citron one and my friend liked the peach. Overall we enjoy this place. Ample parking in the parking lot because I have anxiety every time I go somewhere during peak hour in Portland and I'm unsure about the parking situation. Felt there were missing some other key items for side dishes that I generally see at other Korean restaurants mashed potatoes, fish cakes, etc... The japchae and bulgogi was good but on the sweeter side than I am use to. This is just my personal preference as my bf and friend loved this placec. We all enjoyed the food and the atmosphere. I would come here again.
My daughter likes this place a lot. Staff is very friendly, atmosphere is great, and food is good. It's connected to a large grocery store so there's always lots of parking. It can be a little tricky turning left onto Powell during rush hour.
Wow!! So good! It was the perfect spice for the afternoon although I I think if I had this for dinner I would ask for the super spicy version!! Even the left overs we took home were good the next day! Yummy!!
Decent Korean food in SE portland area. They just add sushi bar, but I’m not sure about eating sushi in a Korean restaurant. I try many times before, and all of the food is pretty good. Hotpot is pretty good for 2-3 people. Suprisingly, there’re a lot of meat inside the hotpot with variety of toppings and noodle. Side dishes are also pretty decent. Restaurant is clean and service is pretty good. Will come back
Luncheon with the family on a gray and dreary Saturday afternoon. What could lighten the drab colored day but some spice of life Korean goodness in your tummy. The place was hoppin this day we went. Had a bit of a wait at the door till we were seated by this very busy but polite server. We could see she was super busy so we knew we'd be in for a bit of wait ordering, getting our food, and checking out. We started out with a Pa Jeon scallion pancake w/dipping sauce perfectly crisp and fluffy pancake interspersed with bits of onion and green onion.Mom who's always a light eater opted for an item from their appetizer menu by getting the Japchae noodles with beefsweet potato clear noodles stir-fried with veggies in a garlic, sesame sauce. This was still more than enough for her to take a good portion home. Dad ordered a lunch combo for $16.99 he got to choose one soup/select entree option. He got the Soondubu Jigaespicy tofu soup with bits of kimchi and beef+beef bulgogi, my daughter and I shared the Budae Jigaehot pot for 2-3 it was jam packed umami flavored spicy broth with all of the following crammed into one pot of goodness tofu, spam, sausage, bacon, kim chi, beef slices, rice cakes, then topped off with some ramen and couple slices of good ol American Cheese. While the pot of tasty broth bubbles away on the table the ramen starts to soften it begins to then melt the cheese slices on the noodles making this creamy delectable soup. All the lunch orders came with bowls of steaming hot white rice and a few different banchans assorted pickled veggies, kim chi and a bit of mac salad. All in all, this would've been a 5 star experience had the poor sole server had some help I'm sure then we would've been able to get a few more table check ins. This I can totally forgive and understand as most restaurants are struggling to fill or keep workers during these times. However, this will not keep me from coming back again. As the food is just to good to deprive my tastebuds of not returning. Parking: Shares a parking lot with a few other businesses in this strip mallesque lot.
If you want really good Korean army stew that you can share with two to three people come here!!! It was so good had a lot of meat and the flavor was perfect. Also the spicy rice cakes come with an egg!!! I’ve never seen that before! We ate it so fast so I could only take pictures after
I'm visiting the area for work from SoCal and Monday nights are Korean food night back home. To be honest, I hadn't had a good experience with Asian food here in the area yet so I wasn't expecting mediocre from here at best. I WAS TOTALLY WRONG!! The moment i barely opened the door, I was greeted with the most delicious and welcoming Aromas and when I was actually inside, I automatic felt at home by the semi private booths. I only ordered the kimchi chigae/ Kimchi-jjigae / from here and flavor is freaking AMAZING & just the right level of spicy for me I enjoy spicy Rice & banchan/sides are included with the cost for dinner. I was a little sad with the size of the banchan got 6 tiny portions at first, but the flavor well made up for the amount
This place is EXCELLENT! The food quality and portions were absolutely amazing. We had no issues with this establishment whatsoever, and the food is definitely better than any all you can eat place where you cook it yourself too. Another thing I liked was how quiet and small the place is. It really allows you to have a more intimate experience than a few other places I can think of, which can be louder and a bit more chaotic. The Bossam was frickin FANTASTIC. If you like pork belly DO NOT MISS OUT ON THIS.
I really like their food however when my boyfriend and I were sitting waiting for our food—the waitress took our order first and 4 Korean people who came later than us got their meal before us. I came to this place twice with my family of 3 and it happened again—Like I said prior the food is delicious but we just felt like it was favoritism. Take this review as you well
AMAZING food, some of the best dumpling rice cake soup I've ever had, I'm very happy I impulsively decided to go in. There's Kpop playing on the TV when I went, which is fun enough to watch. Highly recommended for the food they also served a green barley tea of you order food and that was p decent too! I also saw they have soju and beers available in solid brands, I just didn't order any myself Parking: Shares an area with other shops and a winco, I also went at 5pm or so, so I suspect it was busier in the lot than usual.
