Just completed a 6 month lease here at City Gate. The overall experience both moving in and out was terrible. The initial unit signed for was not ready for move in on the agreed date and a new signature was required days before move in on a new unit which caused confusion from the leasing agent on agreed terms of monthly rate. The new unit was not clean upon arrival for move in, and it required asking the leasing office twice for a proper clean. After two attempts, I cleaned the unit myself. The leasing agent also let us know that they were replacing the blinds in the unit on move in, which not only did not happen for the whole term of the lease but was also included on damage charges at move out after being told by the leasing agent that this was already in their system and being processed. For the entire lease term, the exiting garage door of the "secure" garage was broken and left in the open position, allowing the public entry to the parking garage the building was charging residents for. The mailing hub did not work properly once installed, with the leasing office not only not letting residents know that they had their packages in their office but also sending broad and vague emails that packages not collected would be returned to sender. Multiple times in the lease term dead rats and mice were found just outside the external doors on the brick road that encircles the building. Overall a bad experience with an even more inept in house leasing team. The only silver lining here was how receptive, fast, and friendly the maintenance team was for in unit issues. Your money is better spent elsewhere.
Finishing up year three, and plan on staying for another. I love the layout, all that natural light, my HUGE balcony, and high ceilings. Great location. One of the best pools in the area. Most of the staff is chill, and the occasional miserable folks weed themselves out. Are there issues? Sure. It’s an apartment complex with staff that are overworked and underpaid. Another resident brings glass into the pool so it has to close while it’s cleaned. Another resident manually tries to lift the garage door, breaks it, and it takes some time for a replacement. A gym machine breaks.
Horrible experience with management not being supportive and accommodating when my monthly $100 payment for parking permit fell off my mirror resulting in my car getting towed from my own parking garage. Management could have cared less and was not remotely sorry and said the almost $300 fee was my own problem and they would not reimburse me even when it was a first time accident out of of my control and having no previous problems. If you want a management company who is understanding and realizes life happens outside your control, this apartment complex is not for you.
The public amenities are about the only thing that is accurately displayed on the website. Before we moved into our apartment two months ago, we were told that our unit was recently redone... but when we moved in, there were missing trim on the walls and floor boards, yellow and orange stained blinds, broken AC unit, water stains on the floors, etc. and still to this day, are not fixed. We have contacted maintenance several times regarding the same problems and nothing is done about it. For example, the light fixture in the master bath has been broken since I have moved in and I have been told twice that it will get repaired within the week and it hasn't, and keep in mind it has been like that for two months now. Additionally, we have been charged with several random fees and charges each month that have increased our rent by $200-300 each month. Another major problem and a huge safety concern is that the parking garage is never locked or even shut, meaning that anyone can have access to the apartment building through the parking garage doors. The worst part is that the office is rarely ever open, the hours that are displayed on the website are inaccurate and when I leave voicemails, no one usually ever calls me back. Most days I will call between 11 am and 3 pm and no one is ever there or answers and it's the middle of the day! I am extremely disappointed in my experience here and do not recommend City Gate Apartments. Between the lack of service and all the hidden fees, it's a huge scam.
The space is great. The apartment is really nice. We have had a couple maintenance issues where our fridge and AC kept breaking, but it has been a nice stay so far that feels like home. We have enjoyed our stay so far!
I have been here for going on two years now, and I have had heat issues and water leaks. HOWEVER....every time I have spoken with the maintenance supervisor Martin Mar-teen about my issues he has assessed them promptly. When my AC went out early June, Martin was not able to get the issues fixed, but he did give me a portable AC and he had the vendor come out two days later and it was fixed. I have nothing but good experiences with my unit and community that I love to call home. Thank you, Martin and the staff, for making me feel like a neighbor rather than a dollar sign.
The property has came a long way, they recently shampoo the hallways, new garage door and the security has been a lot better since the new pin code system. Denver has its ups and downs there will be homeless whenever you go, but living here i feel more safe than i have ever before!
My fiancee and I have lived here for a little over 6 months in a two bed two bath. We love our apartment - it’s updated and the perfect layout. Our balcony is also a nice space. It’s normally pretty quiet and feels safe. We have also found that it’s the most affordable and best value in the area with a great location. However, with the more affordable price, comes some less convenient things. The hallways and garage often has trash where it shouldn’t be. The parking garage spaces are tiny and we often have to park floors up from our apartment. The hot tub, garage door, and gym machines do not always work. I asked someone in the office for an update on the hot tub and they asked me if I had a bath in my apartment to use instead. Other than that encounter, the office is friendly and generally always available. The maintenance staff is also very helpful and prompt. Overall, definitely worth the price for us and would recommend if you don’t mind a couple issues.
AC hasn’t worked all summer. Supposed to have secured parking garage, but can’t remember it ever being secured since living here. Not to mention there is a halfway house across the street and numerous times suspicious people have been on premise. Crazy
I have lived here for a little over a year in a California one bedroom. Pros: Great location, great amenities, apartments are nice. Not a lot of noise, neighbors respect the pool hours and shared spaces. Packages are stored in secure room. Maintenance requests are handled quickly. Cons: HUGE rental cost increase of 11% for a 12-month lease after the first year. Hard to get in touch with leasing office/ front desk staff over the phone and via email. Many issues are left unresolved, possibly due to high turnover rate in employees. Cars get towed A LOT from the parking garage. The tow company does not give a 24 hour warning.
