The rooftop here used to be one of the best and one of the only rooftops in the area. It had great friendly bartenders, a long happy hour, lots of people. No more. Mediocre beer runs almost $9 for a 12oz can during happy hour, staff is odd to say the least, and it feels like a strip mall version of a club. Sad to see a great space go to waste. Avoid.
Lost my phone here and went back couple of times but never got it back. Very nice people I might add. The phone stayed on radar and showed it was still inside the ballroom till the moment battery ran out 48 hours later, sunday evening, ballroom closed till friday. However, 3 weeks later my phone has popped up on the map again, and it turns out one of the employees has taken it home... no wonder it could not be found. The employee in question lives at or near Woodbury Apartments.
There are not enough stars to capture how wonderful it was to have our wedding at Clarendon Ballroom!!! When we first started looking for places in DC to get married, we were a bit overwhelmed by the choices. Thankfully we came across Clarendon Ballroom. We actually didn't know that they did weddings, and we are SO glad we learned that they did, as they don't just "do" weddings...they make the wedding of your dreams possible! We found them to be very affordable, and they do everything in house--linens, staff, bar, food, even the cake! It was so nice to be able to go down the checklist and say "included" to so much and to work with a single venue on so many of the key elements that pull a wedding together. They were an absolute dream to work with! From picking out linens, to our tasting, to helping execute every last wish that we had, they amazed us every step of the way. When we picked up our stuff on the Monday after our wedding, not one single item of decor was missing or damaged and they had gone above and beyond to save the top of our wedding cake we didn't even ask for this and send us home with some left over hors d'oeuvres from the cocktail hour! Amazing! Our guests are STILL raving about how gorgeous the venue was, how amazing the food was, how much they loved the location and how cool the rooftop was. I am so grateful to Clarendon Ballroom, Sandra Hoehne, and all the other amazing staff that literally pulled off the wedding of our dreams and I am SO glad that my husband and I chose Clarendon Ballroom as our wedding venue!
Owner is a 50+ year old man inviting teenager girls to his VIP section giving them drinks that somehow make them go from sober to drunk in one drink....
They made my birthday an unforgettable experience! The security was super nice to me and allowing me to request songs from the DJ & gave me a section to sit at with my party. The women’s bathroom attendant is the best!! She always takes care of the girls. The music is also really good for the most part. Thanks for making my birthday the best !!
ladies at the front checking IDs has an attitude that really kills your vibe and makes you want to go back home… like get another job if you don’t like the one you have
Big disappointment to the evening on my first time in Clarendon a few weeks ago. Never had been here before, waited in line and was admitted in by the young women at the front. All of a sudden one of the bouncers proceeded to search me without my consent, touching me in areas I did not feel comfortable. When I told him he needed to ask to search me to which he could have asked me to leave the premises if I did not consent, he pulled me aside aggressively and said "This is what we do". There was no reasonable suspicion, and makes me feel even more uncomfortable as several others had been pickpocketed this evening. Hopefully this review will bring light to the management and be discussed with the staff.
Hello, I wanted to report a situation that happened tonight. I order a drink at the bar and I did not tip. Because I did not tip the bartender named Ryan said “you don’t get that much liquor when you don’t tip mind you this was my first drink at the club so I didn’t even know how the drink was. I didn’t really pay that any mind. I wanted another drink so I can back to the bar and ordered a shot. When I was given the shot, it tipped over because of the lime on the side of the shot glass, I tried to get Ryan but he basically ignored me because I did not tip. Once I saw him do that I tried to grab the attention of another bar tender or person that was behind the bar at the time. The person was about to replace my shot until Ryan told them no.. He blocked the person from getting the shot. After that I proceeded to another person and Ryan intercepted again by saying I was done. After that I went to the security and many of them helped me get the vet manager where I was able to explain what happened and finally replace the shot that I had purchased.
We were visiting from vegas and saw the place was empty. Should have been a red flag. I had a fashion backpack on and so did my friends. The security searched our bags and let us in. I got a shot and a side of coca cola . The side of coca cola was a shots worth too and it was $8...why. We asked the bartender if it was an event and without looking up he flatly said no. We were like okay and went on the dance floor. The security made my friends put their bags on a couch and because I had a bad feeling I didnt take my bag off. I got another drink and ANOTHER security guard came up and said I needed to check my bag...even though the other guard let me in after searching it of course. I gave in and after putting my bag on an open table in the back I asked if I could step outside for a smoke. I was holding my drink and when I came back inside I was greeted by yet another security guard who said ID. I said I was just in here and before I could finish he snatched the drink out of my hands and threw it away. Then he went through my jacket pockets. I was so appalled I asked for my bag because it wasnt on the table I just left it on. Another guard whispers in the guys ear who just went through my pockets without permission and I see them go in the back behind a curtain to get my bag. Super fishy. Nothing was missing but I was only gone for a few minutes. I felt violated and idk how this place is still in business.
Don’t go here unless you want to get ROBBED!!! My phone was stolen on the dance floor taken out of my zipped purse!! I asked security if they had a lost and found to check, and they laughed at me saying “good luck.” I was NOT THE ONLY ONE- 2 other girls I was with had their belongings stolen, and 3 of our close friends let us know that they had their phones and wallets stolen that same night as well!! I understand this may have been an incident that slipped under security’s noses, and there’s not much that can be done about a stolen item, but the way in which the situation was handled was totally unprofessional and downright obnoxious. There is no definite lost and found in this bar, so if you misplace a belonging, or even are a Good Samaritan and turn a lost item in to the bar, DOUBT it’ll ever get back to its owner. Also, I’d expect security to say a little more than “good luck.” Especially when MULTIPLE people are experiencing incidents of theft in the same bar. This bar has gone from a classic, fun spot to a TOTALLY UNSAFE and unkempt environment.
