Shame on you, Kathy. Kathy, physical therapist, tried to limit the amount of walking my mother could do after hip surgery. The orthopedic surgeon ordered my mother to walk as much as possible and ordered Clark to assign a new physical therapist to my mother.

I had open heart surgery and spent 1 week at Clarke House 3years ago and I am recommending it to an acquaintance who is facing the same surgery soon. Clarke House is not a 5 star hotel but is a medical facility where the needs of it patients are met with a caring and professional staff.

I was at Clark House for 5 days after hip replacement surgery. My experience was extremely positive except for the day of arrival. I arrived shortly past 2 on a Friday afternoon and there was no one available to admit me, so I didn't receive the walker I was required to use or room incidentals such as water. The entire staff was extremely nice, competent, personable, and friendly. I received excellent care from the P.T. and O.T. therapists and the nurses, though it sometimes required a little waiting. The food was very tasty, but nothing on the menu for vegetarians unless you eat fish. The facility was extremely clean and well kept. For a TV Guide, you needed to consult the daily paper which was delivered to the room at breakfast time. Channel 44 was not available, though it was listed on the TV roster. I was able to go outside on the beautiful patio and also open my window. The views are gorgeous all around. I'm happy that I chose Clark House.

I highly recommend the Clark House! I lived at the nursing facility for 2 months recovering from a serious fall that included a broken right foot which required extensive surgery, severely sprained left foot and 2 broken ribs. I also was undergoing radiation for breast cancer which required me to be transported daily to a nearby hospital. Needless to say I had a lot of medical issues going on and I was only 54 years old. The Physical Therapists,Occupational Therapists, the Nursing staff as well as the Activities and Administrative staff is by far the most caring and dedicated people. I was bound to a wheelchair, not able to walk or stand at all when I arrived at the Clark House. The Physical Therapists and Occupational Therapists went to work quickly on my left foot to gain strength while waiting for surgery on my right foot. After surgery they worked diligently on my right foot so that I was able to use a walker. The nurses are outstanding! They work so very hard to treat every patient with dignity, kindness and always had smiling faces with a great sense of humor. They were all so compassionate to what I was going through both physically and mentally. The Activities staff know each patient/resident by name, starting the day with coffee and danish as well as the newspaper delivered personally to each room. They provide a variety of activities both in the morning and afternoon. There is also the Case Manager,Admission Director and so many administrative staff members that managed all the paperwork that went along with all my medical issues. I am so very grateful that I was at the Clark House and so very grateful for all my new found friends there!

My uncle and aunt were both doing rehab at Clark House in Westwood at different times.
All I can say is that the experience was beyond horrible. The staff don't seem to care and people who work there are very rough to patients and don't really take care of them. Although the speech therapist was anmazing and very caring. The facility does not have machines or equipments to do tests or to diagnose any possible problem. My uncle was hurt for some unknown reason and was in so much pain and nobody would say what happened and they all seemed to be unaware of it. His laundry was left in the bin for days and he ran out of clothes and they didn't know what was going on. It's really dirty too.The whole facility's floor is carpet which is hard to clean and is so dirty. Bathrooms are very filthy and disgusting. My aunt had a terrible time there too and she thinks of it as a nightmare.
In general, it's very very horrible.
