Another couple and my wife and I decided to take the jazz sunset cruise and had a wonderful time. I will say that we had our doubts when we arrived at Pier 17. First, I am prone to motion sickness and every time a boat or ship would pass the Clipper would rise, fall and twist around to the point that it looked like a carnival ride. Second, the captain came out and spoke and he reminded me of the type of character you would see in an Adam Sandler movie, hoodie, unshaven and when spotted him we thought he was the janitor to clean up not the captain. However, once we got started those concerns were replaced with pure joy. The crew was skilled and obviously knew what they were doing, the drinks were not inexpensive, but generous and the whole trip was amazing. The crew even let me help raise the sail and it is not as easy as it looks. Over the last 20 years my wife and I have come to NYC and she called this cruise the best thing we have ever done. The views were spectacular, the motion sickness fears were set aside almost as soon as we were free from the dock and the captain made us laugh and gave us a great story.
The views and vibes were amazing! The crew was friendly and Tom, the owner, is a chipper fellow. I took lots of photos and had an amazing time with my cousin! The jazz set the mood perfectly. If you're in the city, definitely do this if you have the chance!
Amazing views of the Brooklyn Bridge, NewYork Skyline, Statue of Liberty…!!! It was relaxing. We had a drink the bar tender was very nice lady. The captain was very cool allowed us to steer the sail boat. Overall it was relaxing…!!!
This was one of my favorite NYC adventures so far. The pricing is reasonable and the views are phenomenal. It's great to get out on the water during a hot summer day. The Captain and crew were friendly too.
I took a night ride and it has everything a tourist needs. It was not overcrowded, on time, crew was friendly. and the views …
I would not recommend this boat tour. We booked our tour at 2.30 pm on Saturday. Unfortunately the boat was late and came at 3.10 only and we still waited until 3.30 to departure. Instead of 1h 30 m tour as supposed to be it was only 1 h 20 min. The weather was nice, sunny and I still do not get why the boat was late for 1 hour. No apology from the agency or availability to cancel the tour and get a refund. Shame! If you have any plans and booked some sightseeings in advance I would highly recommend to avoid this agency. For the price of $60 per person you can find a better option around.
The ship, the crew, the overall experience was amazing! I loved every moment, esp helping the crew with the sail! I would definitely recommend and I hope to ride again soon!
Same stories as all the other 0 stars: trip cancelled with no notice. And before they claim otherwise, the weather was gorgeous, not a cloud in the sky. There was no communication either. We found a family who had also signed up and been left with no warning. The crew were very apologetic but there was nothing they could do. If this happens to you and you cannot get a refund though you should try, file with your credit card company for a chargeback. Make sure to take pictures though - to prove you were there on time.
I'm not sure this was really worth my time. I went on 9/17/23. The day was really beautiful but the trip started bad and never got better. Only being a 90 minute experience every minute counts. Someone was 10+ minutes late and we left the dock. They stopped the boat and went back for her. Ship had to redock and put stairs back in place to let her on. This 15 - 20 minutes that was not given back to us on the back end. Why was she the most important passanger? I don't know if it was because of the time loss but we never sailed. Sails were put up and then after brought down again. Watching this was cool but the engine really is how we moved it was sort or just a show. I gave it 2 stars because this was just ok and 20% of my trip was spent on 1 passenger. By the way many passengers expressed they were upset we were going back. Sad this hurt tipping on the back end for staff that probably didn't make this bad call.
WOW - absolute must do if you are in NYC! What a cool experience! We got on the night cruise that runs out to the Statue of Liberty and back and it was amazing. They have a bar on the boat and super friendly staff Elizabeth was so helpful and made booking easy, I can't recommend this enough. I'll definitely do this again and check out some of their other experiences cocktail cruise, smaller ship, sunset cruise, etc
