Even though the Round-a-bout is silly because you have to stop anyway,.this is my favorite circle/round -a-bout in Portland. On summer days the Joan of Arc statue glimmers in the sun and I feel happy.
This is the circle divider as a four-way stop on 39th Avenue or Cesar Chavez Boulevard and Glisan Street it has a beautiful statue of Joan of Arc they just repolished it a couple years ago so it still shiny and pretty I liked it better when it was oxidized but it will be that way again soon I consider it in Portland landmark most oregonians know where it is you can go here and get your picture with Joan of Arc or have a nice little picnic lunch
The whole point of a round-about is so that cars can make turns safely, even on congested roads, without losing all momentum at a stop. When they removed the yield signs and added stop signs they completely defeated the purpose of this round-about. I don't know if they did it for the bus's sake, in which case the bus stops should be moved. Or if Portland' drivers are to blame. Either way it's a shame this doesn't function properly. The statue is neat though.
Had a flat, was waiting for the bus, and saw this statue that I'd never really noticed before.
Wow I just go around and around for hours to get a good look at all that is happening in this very circular park. I spend ages trying to deal with corners in your typical square parks on foot and this is a nice change of pace. Being able to tour the whole thing in a car after only 5 or 6 times around the loop is truly breathtaking. 10/10 would pass by casually on my commute again
I generally don't get caught up with circles, but this one was irresistible!!!!
It's got a lovely statue that keeps the two-lane roundabout from being an eyesore. The Joan of Arc statue even serves as a gym for Pokemon Go. That said, if you're expecting a sizeable park, you'll be disappointed. There's maybe room for about 3-4 small groups to picnic with blankets.
Pretty little roundabout. Well kept. If you're not paying attention it's easy to get turned around here while transferring on public transit.
Just a cool spot on the traffic circle of 39th and Glisan.
Gosh, can this roundabout be any more annoying and inefficient? I really like roundabouts, but this one doesn't execute well at all!
