Coffee By Design

This experience was pretty meh in my opinion. First, seeing the name "Coffee by Design" made me assume I'd receive a nice cup of coffee, regardless of the order. I assumed that it would a fresh, flavorful and quality Coffee. I bought a 12oz coffee that they said was made fresh a little while before I got there, and it was one of the most bitter and burnt flavored coffees I've drank, and it was a light roast! I don't take my coffee a little light and sweet, but I had to add twice the amount of milk and sugar I would normally, and it still was bad. I drank half of it before I just threw it out. I don't know, maybe it was a bad brew, or what but I'm not planning on returning for more coffee. The saving grace was the decent turkey sandwich and the great Donut I had on the side! But I think I'll stick with other cafes

If I'm paying $6 for a 16oz drink then I expect a 16oz drink, not significant less. Btw, I hadn't even taken a drink yet, and only thought to look because of how light the cup felt. And for reference, I've been a Barista and know from experience.

It is always a delightful experience at any of the Coffee By Design locations. With that in mind, I can't help but notice there is something extra special about the Congress St location. Besides its prime downtown location and its rich and refreshing iced beverages on a hot summer day, I believe its appeal comes from its employees. I immediately feel welcomed as if I am a close friend of everyone working there. The art, lighting, and plants are as inviting as the baristas, and I can't deny that Coffee By Design is one of the main reasons for me to move back to Portland.

Stopped in to grab a cappuccino and was so pleased with the quick service, atmosphere and the beverage itself! The individual was working by themselves and "tackled" a line of ~6 people within minutes! They were positive and cheery, greeting each individual as they walked in. Very clean, had great mugs and other gift ideas for the coffee lover in your life! I also thoroughly enjoyed the blueberry doughnut that was also available on the menu I'm not from the area but when I'm in town I will definitely make it a point to stop in and grab a cappuccino again!

Great coffee!! My go to is The Caramel Cream Latte!!! Today I tried it iced and it was delicious also. CBD definitely deserves the 2020 Roaster of the Year Award!!!

It's beautiful inside. The espresso is delicious and interesting. The barista was very knowledgeable and passionate about coffee, and we had a great short conversation about it.

Outstanding coffee. Not bitter. Espresso was nice and the creme was thick. Staff was quick and attentive.

The coffee was difficult to drink, distracted staff, but on the bright side you can pay a couple hundred bucks for the "artwork" on the walls. My suggestion? Forget the artwork, try to focus on making the coffee taste good. One you can make money with the other... you'll be bankrupt.

Haven't been in awhile. Still a decent place to go. Seems to be the only place "in my neighborhood" to get a snack on a Monday afternoon...Food: 4/5
