Quality Gracie Jiu Jitsu instruction since 2005. Instructor Jack Walker is a Black belt under Pedro Valente, one of the few people who earned their black belt under the Grandmaster Helio Gracie.
Columbia Self Defense has been providing quality instruction in the art of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu since March 2005 operating out of its Vista location. Due to size limitations and the instructor's desire to add kid's classes to the curriculum, the training space has been moved to a new location in Irmo.
The instructor, Jack Walker, is a Black belt under Pedro Valente, one of the few people who earned their black belt under the Grandmaster of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, Helio Gracie. Jack Walker teaches Valente's 27 Fundamental Lessons System. This innovative teaching method is an adaptation by Professor Valente of Grand Master Helio Gracie's private class curriculum which has been used and perfected for over 80 years. Frequent practice is essential if efficiency is to be gained. The key to learning Jiu-Jitsu is repetition. The ultimate goal is to condition your sub-conscious with Gracie Jiu-Jitsu.
