Great experience with compucare. The owner upgraded my i7 cpu to a i9 and upgraded my PC power supply along with its case and fans. Paul even stayed in the store till 12am just to finish building it so I could use it the next day. Furthermore, Paul is helping me handle a refund of another PC that he tried to fix. The compucare team can handle all sorts of trouble. Experience was fantastic and very smooth.
Warning! Do not bring your computer here!!! No idea why this has so many 5 star reviews. Check the Yelp reviews for more representative reviews. TL:DR Expensive power jack repair delivered with dangerous sparking that the store then lied about and did not rectify when brought back. By far the worst computer repair experience I've ever had. I needed to repair the charge port on my laptop and I dropped my computer off. The service was quick, but more expensive than expected. Part of the reason for this was a $100 parts charge that the owner failed to disclose when he called me telling me the parts were in stock and only informed me of on pickup. I was willing to ignore it, since the repair was done and at least my computer worked now or so I thought. Upon bringing the computer home, I plugged it in and the power jack, which was supposed to have been fixed, began to spark when I plugged it in and became excruciatingly hot when left on. This had never happened prior to the repair. I went back and the store had the computer for four days, and I called back a few times with the kind woman who is not the issue here telling me that the tech saw no sparking and that everything was normal. Finally, she informed me that nothing was found and to pick it up. We were both shocked to find the computer violently sparking when I plugged my cord in. When calling the tech he said that it does that, but "put it in gently" and it won't happen. So why tell me you did not find anything if you clearly did? This is not only a fire hazard, but a new issue introduced to my expensive laptop that did not exist prior that the repair man decided to lie about to me and his front desk person who was just as shocked. For a repair that cost nearly $300, I was expecting my computer to work and be safe to use. When confronting the repair man, he claimed that the computer "charges properly" so he did complete the repair. He offered to fix the fault for the cost of parts afterwards, which was odd given that he claimed no responsibility for the fault at one point, blaming the charger, and then blaming the motherboard which had been swapped months earlier and was working well. One thing I will add, when pushed on exactly what he did, suddenly he did not change any parts in his explanation, despite charging me $100 for parts originally. Regardless, I would recommend that anyone avoid this shop in the future. They were willing to let me leave with an expensive computer now in worse condition than when I left it at least it was safe to use before and took no responsibility for the problem. If I could leave 0 stars, I would. I see that the owner likes to respond with hostility to negative reviews and that alone should inform you of the character of this establishment.
Incredibly efficient and knowledgeable professionals. My laptop crashed over a weekend and I brought it on Monday, and it was diagnosed immediately. My laptop was up and running again that day. Very reasonable pricing. Highly recommended.
Paul was so kind and provided excellent service setting up my new laptop. Very grateful to have met him and found his shop. Will definitely use his services again.
Paul at Compucare is excellent at fixing computer problems, cell phone problems and other technology related issues. He recently set up my new computer for me and did an excellent job. I have used Compucare for a number of years and have been happy with the work. I highly recommend Compucare on the upper east side of Manhattan.
This place is a rip off store. The person at the counter told me to transfer a picture from an old phone to a stick will cost me$200.00. it's not a damaged old phone. Still functioning. They think they can take advantage of customers. Make me sic to my stomach.
I received same-day remote service from Compucare. Paul figured out the problem quickly and made the changes needed. He was very easy to work with.
Like a lot of other reviewers, I feel very lucky to have Paul’s computer service business in my neighborhood. It’s such a relief to find a small business that provides excellent reliable and honest services for reasonable prices. I came in late around 5:30 today with part of my Mac frozen. I have an unusual frequency machine that uses software no longer available, with years of customized programs built into it. I was really worried all that would be lost. Not only did Paul have it repaired and running in a couple of hours, but he told me how he could inexpensively clone my computer so that I would not be in danger of losing it again. That additional level of stress relief is worth gold! Faith in humanity restored along with my Mac.
This is the first time I have had to get my laptop repaired and I must say that I am so happy and impressed. I got my laptop repaired in the same day. He went above and beyond to get it done. He is awesome. I definitely highly recommend this shop. Thank you so very much.
