One of the best doctors. Efficient, dedicated, compassionate, helpful, respectful, and most of all, competent. Wish him the very best in his retirement.

Dr. Shapiro is simply the best. Professional, competent, caring, and talented physician.
I was very lucky to be able to get an appointment with Dr. Shapiro last week. I was on the waiting list but was told there was an opening the following day. As always, Dr. Shapiro was helpful and informative regarding my situation. Would highly recommend Dr.Shapiro and staff.
Dr. Shapiro is great but I will be looking for a new practice simply because the staff at CT GI must be overloaded. It is difficult to get appointments and difficult to get results. The staff over the phone are often not at all helpful or courteous.
On August 19th I was seen by doctor Shapiro for a a follow up appointment. as usual he was very thorough in every aspect of the visit. In the past he had prescribed a medication to correct a stomach problem I was having. The medication has been working well. Doctor Shapiro also knew that my father and my brother had both died of colon cancer. At this appointment I told him that I had been having constipation problems. The doctor told me that he was going to set me up for an appointment to have a colonoscopy. This was due to the constipation problems that I was having. In the past I had told the doctor that I had been having constipation problems. He told me to start using Metoprolol. It worked well, but I stopped using it on a daily basis and the constipation started up again. It was definitely my fault for not using it every day. On September 27th I arrived at the Connecticut GI Endoscopy Center to have the colonoscopy performed. Several medical staff members prepared me for the colonoscopy. They were all very cordial and professional in preparing me for the colonoscopy.. I had been nervous and worried about the procedure, but they all put me at ease.. Doctor Shapiro met with me before the procedure. he too, put me at ease. When I awoke after the colonoscopy, doctor Shapiro met with me. He told me that the colonoscopy went very well. There was no cancer found in the colon, nor were there any polyps. I was so relieved to hear what the doctor told me. I am 80 years old, and my brother was 76 years old when he passed away from colon cancer. I am now taking one dose of Metamucil every day and there have been no further constipation problems. I will be forever thankful to doctor Shapiro for having me have this colonoscopy. I would highly recommend him and the Connecticut GI Endoscopy Center to everyone.
I highly recommend this practice. Audrey Lastra, PA, is my provider and she explains everything so well and is highly experienced in GI problems. I've been seeing her 3 years and CT GI for 15 years. Susan R.
Doctor/patient relationship worked well. The procedures identified the situation and effective treatment quickly put in place. Thorough/high-quality healthcare with appropriate results.
Everyone at this office was courteous, respectful, on time. My procedure went very well. I highly recommend this practice and Dr. Paul Shapiro!
As a person asked to provide transportation for a procedure, the experience was enraging. Called at the worst possible time, which I indicated to them way in advance, and then was made to wait over 45 minutes. There is no cell phone service. Don't try to pick up something unless you have more than an hour. Also, had the apt rescheduled 24 hrs before the appointment. Forget trying to schedule around other things.
