The place was nice and clean. The dishes were tasty. I've never had white creamy Tom Yum soup with chicken. It was not bad but I still prefer the clear chicken broth. Pad Thai has a good kick. Chicken satay was tender and great with satay sauce. I didn't care much for the spring roll. Skin was thick and chewy, like not fully fried through. Red beef curry was great with rice. Surprised that waitress stretched out her hand and asked for my credit card, without letting me see the receipt. High tech or not, I believed in the formality to provide a receipt so I confirm my purchase.
Tried Cool Basil on a whim for my daughters 17th birthday lunch. Wow were we impressed! The service was too notch, we loved our server. The food portions were really good and the lunch prices even better. I was very surprised our sushi roll was made fresh and also cheaper than other places we've been to. Loved it. Oh and the strawberry bubble tea was quite a treat.
The food was very good. And once we were able to order it did not take very long. The service leave me wanting more. We were sat down and left alone for about 15 minutes. The server brought us water and we ordered. Our appetizer came but we had no silver ware, no chop sticks, no napkins. Our server was no where to be found. A few minutes later Our food arrived and I had to ask that gentlemen for silver ware and chop sticks. I asked for a to go box and Our server was seen cleaning tables before we got our boxes. Not sure what happend. They were very busy when we arrived and we expected a wait but I didn't expect to be ignored. There was a table next to us that arrived after us but seemed to be checked on more times then we were. I will probably just do carry our next time so I don't have to deal with being at the restaurant for over 2 hours.
Love love love this place for the amazing food they make. Their Tom Yum soup and Garlic Egg noodles are beyond words to describe and they always make it to my order every time. The dine in experience is also great where you can have a pretty private space. Their service too is super fast.
Cool basil was a decent but very Americanized Thai restaurant. All the food we had was good, not incredible by any means. We had the duck curry, stir fried ginger loved the huge ginger chunks, and other stir fried plates. The coconut soup was good but pretty sweet. It seems like they add sugar to just about everything. And don’t bother with the drinks - just cups of sugar with a splash of alcohol.
This restaurant is amazing! Great decor, process and the quality of the food is incredible. I was surprised at the portion sizes and there was more than I could finish have leftovers!. Highly recommend you stop by and enjoy the experience!
My wife and I went here as a last minute date night thing. We got in and were greeted immediately. The hostess was very nice and seated us right away. We were given ice water as we sat down to decide on our meal. We each got a lovely drink from the bar and 2 menu items. The food was great and beautifully presented. We had an overall great time and will definitely be back next time.
Some of the best Pad Thai I’ve ever had. Rich, savory, sweet, tender, spicy, and fresh. I’ve tried almost a dozen places in New York and none of them compare to this local gem. I can’t wait to go back the next time I’m in the Midwest!
Just ate at this location with my mom. NATHAN was our server and all I have to say is we loved his vibe and energy. Amazing customer service 11/10 And the Food was amazing as well! Definitely have to check it out!
My absolute favorite Asian restaurant in the Des Moines area. It’s a hidden gem! Friendly and knowledgeable staff. I eat here probably every 2 weeks. They have a huge menu and probably about half or more can be made gluten free. I recommend the Bubble Teas, Chicken Satay, and of course gluten free fried rice. I get takeout too and it’s very fast.
