Incompetent doesn't even begin to describe this place. The director of the school doesn't care about anything or anyone, and all she is good for is blowing smoke up people a**es. Staff don't get along and it is constant drama, but nothing is ever done about it. Financial aid department is a joke. This place seems so professional and nice ...and then you enroll and it's instantly different. No one cares about you or your experience once they have your money. Do yourself a favor and don't waste your time or money on this place. Even the owner of the Cortiva Institute itself can't be bothered to care about the patrons of his establishments.
I've gone here many times and had great massages. Students are adept and fastidious. However today I came in the morning to get a massage and nobody was there. Typically there's a line outside the door waiting for the school to open so that the early birds can get in the first wave of massages. No one was there. But more disturbing no one was at the office when they said that they were going to be open at 8 a.m. There was no sign on the door explaining why they were closed when they say they're going to be open. There was no explanation on the answering machine on the phone when I called them. incidentally the message on the phone said that the school opens at 8:30 when the door very clearly shows that they open at 8. I decided to wait till 8:30 a.m.. still no one is at the massage therapy school and no one answered the phone. I was however able to get a person at the Tempe location on the phone, that person however had no idea what was going on at the Phoenix campus and was unable to help with even the most basic information about why they may be closed when they're supposed to be open. In this day and age there are so many opportunities to provide the pertinent information, on the door, on the phone message, on the website... that there's really no excuse that this location could not properly inform a walk in....and for the record you can only walk into the school. They do not accept appointments. The organization of this school has deteriorated quite a bit since it's come under the Cortiva brand. The therapists are still typically really wonderful... When they're there... When the school is open when they say they're going to be open.
This USED to be a great place to get an affordable massage. But ever since it rebranded to Cortiva, it's been worse and worse. The constant changes with no communication to clients is endlessly frustrating! I've tried to get a massage 3 weeks in a row now, even altering my schedule to facilitate their one day, only show up less than 30 minutes after opening and having to leave with no massage AGAIN because I can't wait 2 1/2 hours because suddenly they take appointments? I wish I'd known that, or I would have made one for a time that works for me. I'll be finding a new massage school. This one has been getting super dirty and ghetto anyway. Cortiva ruined this place.
This school needs some SERIOUS work. They are so welcoming and nice to you at first but that all changes once you're in. They don't care about your opinions, they're rude, and have new instructors every other month which made it SO hard to even be able to learn anything! The drama in the classroom is ridiculous. Instructors would pick favorites, the girls are so catty with each other and love to argue/start drama for absolutely NO reason! I wouldn't even recommend any of my family or friends to go to this school because I would honestly be so embarrassed... The only good thing I have to say is that there is a single handful of staff members that genuinely love their job and I have already thanked them for being helpful to me and my career. But overall, I still believe the cons out-way the pros for this school.
Do not list that you are open for 8 hours a day, and then close for 3 hours in the middle of the day. I was hoping to get a massage for my birthday and received a coupon in the mail for 50% off. I called in trying to schedule a time, the operator told me that it was first come first serve and they didn't make appointments. That was fine, they were open from 8-5:30. I went in around 11:30, only to find that they were closed from 11-2 p.m. for shift change. I tried talking to the students sitting behind the desk, who ignored me for the first 5 minutes and finally told me to return after 2. After driving across town just to be ignored, I won't be back.
I have been part of the Cortiva Phoenix family for over three years now. I can tell you from personal experience, you will not regret becoming part of their family. I have watched the Instructors and Staff doing amazing things for their students. They care. They want their students to succeed. And to do that, they give a quality education so that can happen. Join the Campus today. It will be the best decision of your life.
Students and Associates are professional. Atmosphere is friendly. Yes, it might be busy at time, but plan ahead. It is FIRST COME FIRST SERVE BASIS! I can arrive within a first group of clients and be the first out. Or come in check in , leave and come back as if I never lost my place in line! Student therapist are amazing and the price is right!
Disenrolling from this school? I could NOT do it fast enough! Miss Jenn picked her favorites and, her instruction... SUCKED! I was miserable there! I won't even do them the favor of continuing with this VERY BAD review. But what all else you've read with respect to just how bad this place really and truly is, believe it. Don't just take it from me... I'm so happy that they have closed! Yippie
DONT COME HERE This school is ignorant. Everything they tell you is a lie, they never let you use school supplies and they make new rules like were children in elementary school everyday. Ms Jenn is the best thing here. Other than that the corporate and the president and other high up staff are unsupportive and only care about your money.
I love the instructors here. Heather, Jennifer, Marcella, and Edward are amazing teachers. The school really does care. The students are very well trained. I love this place.
