On this particular occasion, I went to Cosmi's specifically to get my favorite salad; the 8th Street Salad. Mixed greens, tomatoes, roasted red peppers, black olives, mozzarella cheese, cucumbers, and croutons! And it's HUGE! the black olives really make it pop! Not to mention, Cosmi's has delicious sandwiches too! They are my go-to Italian deli!
Best deli in the city, the history, the people and the food are second to none. They go out of their way to serve ya and its one of the staples of South Philly that have been around for I think over 70 years. Caprese Cutlet is the best hoagie Ive ever had. I recommend Cosmi's to everyone that visits Philly. Absolutely love this place. You'll keep coming back once you've ate here, trust me. Thanks to entire staff, drivers, cooks, owner and his son. Go Canes
NOT WORTH THE HYPE. Save yourself some dollars. Ugh! I was so so excited to try this historic spot! First it's in my neighborhood walking distance and second, 90 years of history! BUT was unfortunately disappointed. It must have been an off day for them but my chicken cheesesteak hoagies had no cheese despite my ordering them with cheese. So sad! Funny because the folks preparing them even wrote on a hoagie wrapper what cheese each came with. But when we started eating the meat was DRY and flavorless. No salt either. I opened my sandwich flat and searched for cheese but couldn't find. For three cheesesteak hoagies two of which were missing cheese & average mozzarella sticks 6 pieces it was almost 52 bucks! Go figure...... What an unfortunate experience. There's nothing close to iconic, historic, or special about this place.
This is a great place for lunch. The front desk lady was particularly impressive; she knew everyone’s order and was very friendly!Food: 4/5
The Cheesesteak was absolutely phenomenal. Minutes away from the more common stops, I can not recommend spending the time to take a journey to this spot. The onions and pepper on the cheesesteak mixed with that umami rich steak provide that perfect texture. It's easily one of the best spots for a cheesesteak. Saving the Italian for later, but looks amazing.
Good: Italian Meh: chocolate cake The bread was nice on the sandwich but we normally get ours with oil and oregano they didn't ask so if you want it that way, you may have to specify Overall a decent sandwich Cake was kind of dry and the icing was definitely too sweet. This place does not have seating, just walk in, order, and walk out.
Great grab and go sandwich spot no seating available. The menu is very extensive, and the deli subs are fantastic!! High quality ingredients. I also got the cheese steak tots, and they had SO many toppings. PB Explosion dessert was also good. Good prices! Parking: There were several parallel parking spots on Sunday afternoon with less than a one block walking.
At the recommendation of my South Philly cousin, this was my first “official” Philly cheesesteak while in Philadelphia. 10/10 would recommend. We walked down to Capitolio Playground and shook our mighty meat sandwiches at those other two unnamed sandwich establishments, then ate to our heart’s content. City of Brotherly Love indeed. Well done!
Was not really impressed anytime I got the hot food. Last time my cheese was stuck to the paper. I just feel like that is a rookie move. If you work in a kitchen you should know that this will happen if you put paper on hot cheese. Maybe the cheese shouldn't go right on top of a hot sandwich or wrap it different. Just a little tip.. for that ill just stick to Oregon steaks for chicken cutlets or hot food. Might give cosmis another try for a hoagie though. Maybe.
What a gem! The owner was very friendly and made a couple of out of towners Clevelanders feel very welcome. There is a reason why they say that Philly is the sandwich capital of the US and Cosmi's did not disappoint. Experienced a true Roast Pork Sammy and my wife got a turkey hoagie that was "the best she's ever had." What you pay for the size is incredibly good too. Wish we lived closer!
