Going on 2 years with Coso and it’s been a great experience so far. Love my apartment! Fixes comes easily from the super, great location, great interior design, etc. The only downside is we barely get sunlight in the apt, but that’s common for nyc since there’s high sky scrappers. The dryer takes 4 hours to dry clothes, but there’s a laundry unit in the apartment complex. Your packages might get stolen so make sure you’re on top of your package delivery times and let management know ASAP and they’ll fix the situation. Young professionals live in our apt building. All in all my experience is good.
Been living in a CoSo property for nearly 3 years. Management is slow to fix things, and lots of issues with a newly renovated apartment, which you would expect to have no issues. Their newly renovated buildings are nice, but overpriced they also say they are not rent controlled, although legally they should be. It's not worth the headaches and stress that living in these units causes. I've had 4 different property managers in my time as a resident, clearly an issue with upper management retention rates of their employees. Leaving at the end of my lease and never coming back.
Sharp and highly responsive management company. Kudos to Dee, Kelly and Ariana for all their work, but these are poorly renovated apartments with significant mouse issues that could never really be resolved. As you can imagine, this made cleaning always difficult too. We enjoyed our two year stint in the neighborhood this company services the morningside, UWS and Harlem areas, I believe - great area, but I'd recommend avoiding Coso.
Going on 2 years in my coso apartment, no complaints! My super and prop manager are very responsive. My room is affordable, steps to Central Park, and any issues that came up have been promptly resolved. The hallways are kept clean, we just got new laundry machines in the basement, oh and Christmas trees/wreaths during the Holidays is a nice touch.
I have been living in COSO apartment since September and it is quite a good experience. The super is very responsible, whenever there comes a problem, he always helps us as soon as possible. The apartment is also very comfortable and clean, we live there happily.
The worst place ever. The apartment is dirty and extremely small. A lot of rats and cockroaches in the apartment. The washer and dryer are more than 20 years old and can't work properly. Never think about taking your deposit back. They have a thousand reasons to deduct it.
Not safe place to live. The delivered packages always disappeared. Theft broke the lockbox and stole the keys. Manager never helped to check the security cameras. You need have great patient to wait for the repair if something broken. It is very old building. Toilet often clog, bathtub drain not working, door knobs drop, even the tiles loosing, ... When we moved in, the brand new apartment had lot dust. They never clean the windows for decades. I am so regret rented the apartment.
DO NOT RENT FROM THEM. Fellow Columbia studens and other potential renters: This was the worst living experience of my life. The buildings are overpriced and they seem to prey on people moving to the city for the first time. The apartment we rented was supposed to be brand new, but the tv had a massive crack in it, the dishwasher broke within a month, and the washer/dryer unit didn't dry. At the end of the year, we had no contact from the building manager, and when we finally did, he had entirely different expectations than the people at the office about what we needed to have done to get our security deposit back. He was also super rude and defensive when I asked questions about those expectations. Columbia should blacklist this place for students.
I've lived in a coso apartment for 1.5 years now, love it! Love the neighborhood I'm 107th/Manhattan Ave, my apartment, super and prop manager. I had a leak in the kitchen A big one!, and it was promptly repaired. Our property manager, Joe, is a super nice guy and extremely responsive. I've found the leasing office to be very friendly and responsive as well. No hesitations, 5 stars.
When moving out, we put some garbages on the yards of our building cause there was no space for those outside. To compensate, Coso skimmed $3000 out of our deposits. They are such an amazing company. If you want to live in the worst place where super is seldom responsive and the company is always seeking to extort from residents, don't hesitate to make a contract with Coso.
