County of Richmond Fire Department

Upon EXTREMELY LATE NOTICE through a fb post from a needy relative who resides near this department. I called on CHRISTMAS EVE @ 11:00 PST to find out if they had a way to assist this single mother with 2 boys ages 11, 7 and a 5 mo. old baby girl. Her mother & grandmother are deceased as well as her oldest sons father. As I'm a disabled veteran on the West Coast, as well as her biological father is also a disabled veteran who is recovering from a kidney transplant 9 hours away she has no one to turn to. Where I came from (in the Chicagoland area) I remembered that OUR fire departments collected toys for needy kids. I called this department and was immediately met with outright resistance! Well there's only 3 of us here he chuckled to me. I failed to see the humor. I continued to explain her situation unfortunately he had already became uninterested and claimed they had a call. There must have been a cat up in a tree. God said, "Where 2 or more gathered I am there". This man forgot the Reason for the Season. SHAME ON YOU!

Any fire department should recieve 5 stars simply because you kn ow they want to be there and are there to help.
