Great place to get a small pastry or drink that is located next to Sizzle Pie. We had a canele from here as we also wanted shaved ice from Soen. The service here is very friendly and quick. The canele was delicious and worth checking out.Food: 5/5
Love this little coffee shop shared with Soen's japanese food items. They roast their own coffee. Their drip coffee option is almost always a wonderful single origin offering. There are coffee bean bags available for purchase. Their canele pairs so nice with the coffee. One of their fall seasonal drinks is a kokuto hojicha milk tea and that milk texture has been unforgettable. We also like to add a menu item from Soen's seasonal offerings which have included dango, inari, and curry & rice, and many more follow their Instagram to know more. Kakigori is also available in the warmer months. Seating is limited inside and outside. Street parking can be a bit tough but parking garages are nearby.
This is BY FAR the best coffee/espresso in Portland. We visited once, and came back everyday. He roasts his own beans and makes all the pastry in house. Pastry is dead on, not too sweet, and flavorful. The interior is quintessential millennium rustic, clean, and fresh flowers on table, record player in background. You will do yourself a disservice if you do not come here. BTW check my other review I NEVER give 5 stars across the board...this place deserves it.
a great place Joel, the owner works here himself and is very friendly, despite being very busy. And interesting combination - gourmet coffee and Japanese petit fours We had matcha latte and a breve latte. Match was nearly the best I ever had
Quaint and rising. Locally roasted coffee was made into a solid no-frills espresso. Complementary soda water was a nice plus. The canelé was delicious with a good lemon hint, crispied shell, and succulently moist interior.Food: 5/5
Not a ton of seating inside and there’s a bit outside but overall it’s very nice inside! I have gone there a few times mostly for the caneles and the shaved ice. Their seasonal coconut yuzu one was my favorite but i also really liked the matcha strawberry. Their caneles sell out fast on weekends but weekdays they have plenty. I also tried one of their yogurt muffins which was really good similar texture to the caneles. Parking is a bit rough since there’s nothing on the same block and its all pay to park nearby. The caneles are truly the star of the show by far the best I have tried in my life in LA and in Portland! Check them out!
Delicate creamy sweet karigori Japanese shaved ice I had the nectarine and rose water, small. Seated at a table on the sidewalk under a shade tree -Food: 5/5
We visited this place for a hot chocolate because it was snowing. Its a small cozy place. It doesn’t have place for more than 6-8 people to sit. They even make shave ice milk. But when we tried hot chocolate, we really didn’t like it, it didn’t have sugar and the taste of chocolate wasn’t good felt like they diluted a lot. We didn’t try any coffee and I don’t know how is the coffee here and also there are some pastries too. But for hot chocolate I am giving 3star.
The vibe was not with us when we visited. Kind of a small place and they didn't really have any goodies or food just drinks. It felt a little snoody and no one greeted us when we came in. Definitely a turn and burn type of establishment for me. Decent coffee.Food: 4/5
A bit cramped, but a cute location. We were there for Soen, which shares the location with Courier. Food was delicious. The dango was soft and not too sweet, and the roll was delightfully flavorful with a slightly sweetened egg and pickled veggies. The tea not shown was light in flavor. Friendly staff. I'm looking forward to visiting in the summer for their shaved ice!
