Bought a “restored” chair from CreamCity. The chair looked fantastic on Instagram. The upholstery job was done well. The rest of the chair was a joke. All of the hardware was completely stripped. The rocking mechanism doesn’t work and binds until it springs back violently. The upholstery under the chair is all torn up and hanging. This chair needs serious work and is not worth half what we paid. We shared all of this with CreamCity and they did nothing to rectify the situation. Incredibly disappointing experience and will not purchase from Cream City again.
My husband and I purchased a beautiful Kai Kristiansen Executive Desk, beautifully restored. Jason was terrific. Delivered a few days after purchase. We are totally satisfied customers. It is our first piece of furniture in our new home! Could not be happier!
This is a great place to find beautiful pieces to build your space around. I recently found these incredible chairs and table set for my front window and I absolutely love it. They're restored, reupholstered and the work looks fantastic, it's my favorite place to sit in the apartment and I'll be using them for future furniture purchases for sure!
BUYER BEWARE- For anyone looking to purchase from Cream City Restoration- Please read before purchasing anything from this business. I am cross-posting this review. My fiancé and I have had a absolutely awful experience with CCR. The fabrication and delivery of our custom built couch is very similar to many other reviews on Facebook and Yelp. Our experience was filled with disappoint, many excuses, lack of communication, and a lack of accountability. We finally received our couch 6 months after it was ordered which was double the estimated wait time. In the meantime, after 9 months of waiting for an Eames lounge chair restoration that was paid in full; we grew tired of Jason’s owner excuses and obtained a full refund. It is important to note that there was quite a bit of back and forth to get our money back. Recently, after having the couch for less than a year, the back webbing support failed on the LESS used side of the couch. This resulted in the back cushion sinking in to be flush with the frame. After reaching out to Jason, we were informed that THEY would be doing US a favor by fixing it, and essentially blamed us for the failure, by ordering a “customized sofa” we increased the length and depth of the seat. If you look back at Instagram posts dated in early 2018, CCR clear advertises “fully customizable” couches. In trying to resolve this new issue, part of Jason’s response was as follows, “We are going above and beyond to repair a sofa that you wanted changed and didn’t want to pay for stress testing or ergonomic testing and thus voided any kind of warranty.” Earlier we were also told there were NO warranties, now it is voided? Also, we were NEVER told about possible issues or the need for additional testing when ordering one of their customized sofas. Jason said he would contact us later that day to set up a time to look at our couch. We are on day 6, and there is still no word from Jason whatsoever. As you can see my fiancé and I have a lot to say about this business, and I would be happy to discuss any further details. Hopefully, you read this review and can spare yourself time, money and stress by shopping elsewhere.
We paid for work that was never done on our furniture. After requesting a refund, it was never sent to us as promised in writing. I just drove past the store on Water St- it is completely empty. Do not do business with this disaster of an owner who will blame things on ex-employees, or go on about his personal life as to why he can't get things done on time, to an email that hasn't been working for 5 months. We initially contacted Jason McGinnis in Nov '19. After much back & forth, we were finally able to get a quote from his ex-employee for restoration work to be done to 6 chairs- 2 midcentury style slings, 4 dining room chairs. What we were verbally quoted was entirely different than what we were charged for. We were told 8 weeks for completion. After 3 months, I called to see the status of our chairs. They were incomplete because the material that was quoted to us was now going to be an extra $2000, which is not what we agreed to. When we decided to cut ties, it took us about 4 months of constantly harassing him to get our 6 chairs delivered back to us. The 2 sling chairs had wood restoration work done to them, but the 4 dining room chairs were untouched. The upholstery was not done on any of the chairs as he wanted to charge us an additional $2000 over the initial quoted price. We asked for a refund back for the work that was not completed on the 4 dining room chairs. By this point we had forced all conversation to email to get everything in writing. He said that he would refund us- that was Oct '21. No refund has been processed, all emails go unanswered, and now it looks like their shop has closed up & moved on. Total scam artist.
Cream City recently transported several expensive pieces for me from California to Kentucky. They were very quick and the pieces arrived in perfect condition. Communication was precise and clear. The driver Copper was super friendly and helpful. He was willing to work with me on delivery time and even met with me very late in the evening due to my hectic work schedule and commute. Overall, I was very pleased with Cream City and I will use their services whenever I can in the future!
We paid upfront for the repair of an Eames chair in June 2021 that was expected to be completed in 8 weeks. 8 months later, despite many calls, emails, and visits to the store to request the return of our furniture in any state of repair, Jason and Kelsey have not returned our chair or reimbursed us. When I scheduled appointments for the return of our furniture, CCR did not show up. That happened multiple times. They still have our furniture and make no effort to return it.
BUYERS, CONSiGNORS, DESIGNERS, SHIPPING CUSTOMERS BEWARE! PLEASE READ REVIEWS BEFORE YOU PURCHASE FROM THIS COMPANY No one should ever consign with Cream City Restoration. They are dishonest, untrustworthy, and completely unprofessional. They took a pair of Milo Baughman rosewood case sofas and they’ve never listed them for sale after 3 years. After countless messages, calls, and false promises to list these for sale, they’re failed time and time again to do so. They have tied my hands with listing these myself and refuse to provide me photos of them, so I can only assume that they sold my sofas and scammed me out of my share. This is not only a shady operation, but Jason McGinnis is a con artist.
Paid for 4 erik buch stools and was given a 6 week time table to be delivered. Long story short, 12 weeks had gone by and still had not heard about the whereabouts of the order. Continuously told me that their supplier wouldn’t get back to them. Week after week. I gave up and just filed a charge back to get my money back. I ordered straight from the manufacturer the very next day and received the stools in 5 business days. I purposely didn’t order from the manufacturer initially to support a small business, post covid and then I purposely kept my thoughts to myself cause I did not want to slander a small business. Seeing all these other similar stories gives me peace of mind because I really thought I was being too pushy in asking for a status update and their constant downplaying of my messages. But I see that it’s just bad business over there.
Smooth experience from beginning to end! My boyfriend and I went to the store on Saturday and left with our piece on Sunday. Our customer service was great and we left with a quality piece, fully restored, looking brand new for a great price. Overall very pleased and am going to be checking their Instagram and in store regularly to find some more gems for our home. Jason also mentioned that they offer restoration and upholstery services. We have some pieces we will be bringing in to have them restore for us as well. After seeing the level of craftsmanship that goes into their restored pieces we know they will do an amazing job!
