We all enjoyed Creo Chocolate on our last visit to Portland, OR. Upon returning home even the extended family got to enjoy the artisanal options we brought home for everyone to experience. Every piece was thoroughly enjoyed, and quickly devoured! The owner was very personable, offered samples to try out, and made wonderful suggestions. We individually picked out a box of chocolates for family, got chocolate covered pretzels for the flight home, and ate more than we would care to divulge immediately after purchase. Truly an amazing place & experience!
If you have time, do the tour! It's so educational and includes tasting LOTS of yummy chocolate and making your own bar. Super nice owners. Really excellent chocolate which you'll appreciate even more after learning all about how it's made with the highest quality standards and such attention to detail. I'll be bringing my Portland visitors here for the tour and treats!
Let me start this off by saying that Creo Chocolate is quite possibly one of my favorite places on Earth. I remember walking in during my first visit to Portland a few years ago. I was living in Seattle at the time, which is home to Theo Chocolate, so I felt like maybe I was in some alternate reality - a similar but different West Coast city, with a similar but different chocolate factory, right? Sort of, not really. Creo had its own charm and magic that really set it apart from any other place I'd been to in the past. They had everything that a chocolate lover like me could want: beautiful truffles, unique bars with samples!, and plenty baked treats and decadent drinks to enjoy at their seating area. Since then, Creo has been a must-visit for me every time I'm in Portland. In 2019, my mom and I got to attend one of their Make-a-Bar tours. It was delightful getting to learn about the whole bean-to-bar process, and it was fun putting together our own bars to take home. We still remember Janet's passion, friendliness, and positivity that day and definitely miss her dearly. We are so glad that Tim and Kevin are keeping Janet and Creo's story alive. I'm now based on the East Coast but still order from Creo every now and then. My pantry always has to be stocked with my favorite Coffee & Cream White Chocolate bars and Midnight Truffle sipping chocolate. If I'm down to just one bar, I start to get a little antsy and know it's time to put another order in! I've also introduced several friends to their products, and they love them just as much as I do. With the pandemic, I haven't been able to fly back to the West Coast in awhile, but for sure I'll be paying Creo a visit when I do. Until then, I'll just be here sipping my warm cup of liquid gold.
Did the chocolate tour- absolutely incredible. I loved the experience and will never forget it. The owner is so kind and full of humor. Just very good people. A very humbling backstory as well. I got a hot chocolate before the tour KILLED IT! So so so good! not too sweet, very rich and perfect. I also tried the gin truffle and the earl grey truffle. AMAZING. Also got the pleasure of taste testing several flavors, of which the whiskey, orange, and spicy chocolate were my favorite. I left with three bars of different flavors. I would highly recommend Creo chocolate, the people are just good human beings and are changing the world by means of chocolate. I will never forget the owner or the experience. LOVE THIS PLACE!!
Excellent chocolates, beautiful store, the owner is super nice and let us try lots of chocolates. The chocolates are so good, and smooth, and flavorful. No wonder they are award winning. I will definitely buy again! Being your friends and family, this local gem is worth supporting.
We did the chocolate tour and it was a lot of fun. We learned about how they make their chocolates. We also made our own chocolate flavors and got to try a lot of samples!
What a wonderful place! I’ve stopped by just to grab some bars before but wanted to check out the tour and make your own bar. Absolute blast! Learned so much and really enjoyed my time.
We initially saw this company as a vendor at a chocolate festival here in Portland. Then we saw their location on the drive to my work. The pricing is very good for the quality of chocolate and the selection is fantastic. It's a great trip to go there, ask questions about chocolate and learn chocolate facts. Excellent service, excellent chocolate.
Had such a fun time doing this activity with my friend. Learned a LOT about cacao and how its harvested. The owner was charming and sweet. I am vegan and there were lots of options for me to taste. I ate the bar that I created the same day! One suggestion I would make is that you scatter the chocolate tastings throughout the presentation instead of waiting until the end. It would keep the guests engaged, give them and you a break from all the talking AND allow time for the palate to cleanse in-between the flavors so that your guests get the full experience of each creation. Great experience! Would definitely recommend!
We did a Creo Chocolate Tour and are regular consumers of their delicious bars. The tour is a super fun & tasty thing to do if you have 90 minutes in Portland and are a fan of chocolate. You will learn a lot more than you ever knew about the process of making chocolate, and walk away with a high-quality bar of your own creation! And if you just want to check out their products, their chocolate is some of the best I've ever had.
