Normally not this dissatisfied with this camp ground or the Corp of Engineers for that matter but, this time round it was not a good trip. Although it was out of season, and the rules don't apply during off season, they should. A boat trailer and a cargo trailer were parked in a camping slot and someone was holding a camping site with a chair and an ice chest. The rules state that a site must have a tent on it. The water was nasty around the camp ground and the volunteer camp host was parked in a prime site. The COE really need to reevaluate their out if season rules. I like this camp ground but liked it better when it was maintained year round by Friends of Lake Ouachita. .

We love to camp at Crystal Springs. Very nice campground. Nice swimming area, nice spots on the water with electric and water hook ups. Good walking trails and boating.

If you're Rv'ng, this is your spot. If you're tent camping, I'd look into Joplin, or Brady Mountain. Fee booth is only open from 12-8 pm during peak season and they don't use the iron ranger. Minimal signage posted around the park with the exception of Army Corps rules and regs (size 8 font and not specific to the park). No sign explaining white posts are reserved only and brown posts are walk-up. Rec.gov doesn't really match up to the actual campground as far as reservations go. The actual tent sites they do have are pretty secluded, but are walk-in sites (short walk). Also, they only have port-a-poties. The bathhouse is centrally located (pretty clean). The RV sites in loop D are huge as you can see in one of my pics. Views are terrific. The playground on the swim beach was pretty terrific; however, they need to backfill some sand to match back up to the bottoms of the toys.

A group of 4 of us were road tripping down from Iowa and we found this gem. Even with the flooding happening, everything was perfect! Very pretty campground, clean bathrooms/showers, and friendly staff. It was a GREAT experience! Thanks for everything!
