Disappointed!! Service was poor, dirty utensils & water glasses. and food lacked flavor. I don't feel bad leaving a one star because there was no customer service or ambiance at this place. Tandoori fish is 100% waste of money it was tasteless no salt at all boiled tilapia with some masala on top. 1 star maybe for the half cooked naans and samosa chat. Won't be returning.
We have been to Darbaar a few times. This time around we saw changes, safe to say post covid changes. New Cutlery, full fledged menu etc. Generally it serves you delicious food - we love the magaz masala, balti ghost, Peshawar Naan, chicken Bihari boti. This time around they could not serve us magaz masala. Balti ghost which is there most expensive food on the menu wasn’t cooked properly. Others were ok.
Darbar is a must try for desi food in the NE area. Everything was fantastic, the food, service and overall ambience. The kebabs and chicken were so tender and delicious. Will definitely be back and highly recommend to anyone!
Amazingly delicious food, and good service! Definitely going back again.
Awesome food. Probably one of the best beef curry around here. Tried their goat brain dish as well , another masterpiece. I'm coming back for their nihari and lamb chops for sure . Traditional Pakistani meat dishes are usually kind of heavy, so not so heart-friendly, lolz.. a bit of self- control is recommended. Biggest challenge was parking, parked right at the curve side in a low traffic . I would say have a plan for parking.
We ordered goat pulao which did not taste good. It was cooked with sela rice and frozen goat meat which had a smell to it. We also ordered tea which the staff made it seem would be specially made for us but it tasted bland and were charged $3 a cup. I highly recommend without any regrets to avoid this place.
I visited the restaurant with my daughters yesterday on a weekday and confirmed if they prepare fresh food every day. Ordered kadai chicken and Nihari. The Kadai chicken preparation was good however the portion was small. The Nihari taste was tangy but gave the benefit of doubt to the proprietor who confirmed the food is prepared fresh and assumed they had added lemon before serving. Both me and my daughter ended up with stomach upset. Would not recommend the restaurant to anyone for not serving fresh food and for not being truthful and respect their customer.
For experience/atmosphere it may feel a little mom-pop. You could also turn that around to think more personal and homely. BUT food is the star. Their kababs, paya knuckle soup, beef nihari stew, lamb brain masala are excellent! They have many kinds and shapes of kababs which are all very nice and must try! One day, when I was waiting for a pickup, the owner insisted that I have a bowl of chicken soup, on the house- even that was excellent! I named some exotics above, but they do have all the regular fare that you would want in the cuisine. I have tried some of those, and are also very good like lamb korma etc. They have meat Biryanis and meat polaos. The later is a more aromatic and less spicy rendition. Rather let's say delicate, where you taste the fragrant spices and ghee, besides the meat. The biriyani is a little more rich and equally nice. If type of meat is not a barrier, I would recommend these in goat or beef if you want instead. Overall, it's a nice little place that is most close to authentic more Pakistani, I would say than Indian and one of the best food of its kind in the city!!
This is one of the best Pakistani food I’ve had. I live in Texas and this restaurant is better than the Pakistani food we have here. The customer service is the best and they treat all their customers very nicely and gives great recommendations. One thing that stood out was the naan, their naan was one of kind it’s better than any other naan I’ve had. I recommend their nihari, saag, and mango lassi. If you’re ever in Boston this place is must try. If you go, ask for the owner to give you his recommendation! The food was so good we went two days in a row!
Some food items were from previous day, served as “fresh”. Halwa poori was not up to the par. Owner needs to have better cooks and stop selling old food as new
