It’s all Halal. The lamb cucumber soup was not to my liking as it had too much lamb smell in it. Chicken cream corn soup was good. Mongolian beef was amazing. Lamb with green onions was average. Chicken with chili sauce was a disappointment; the fried chicken pieces were so tiny that it looked like it was just tempura batter and no chicken & there was no taste at all. Just because this place is Halal, I might try it again to try some new dishes. Otherwise, the service is as expected.
My first meal at Darda was 30 years ago and I frequented often. I don’t come as often nowadays but stopped by this weekend and it’s still as good as I remember! Note they don’t serve pork and I think they serve halal. And the portions are LARGE for the price compared to a lot of chinese restaurants. Braised beef noodle can come with thick round or flat rice noodles. I chose round but I think flat might be better next time. Beef was tasty but a few pieces were on the leaner side. Fish with snow peas and water cress was excellent. Fish clearly from frozen, not fresh, but still good. Favorite is the three flavor dried rice, which had chicken, beef, and shrimp. Very good!
Good halal Chinese food. It can get very crowded over the weekends, but there's usually no reservation needed. We tried a few dishes, our favourite 2 dishes so far is the chilli chicken, and the 3 flavor hot noodle soup #14 - w/ knife cut noodles.
Food was very good, fast and efficient service like in most Chinese restaurants. They had some very hard to find Chinese dishes outside of China quantity was very good too. Halal signs posted in and out.
This has been one of our favorites for many many years. We made friends with many of their staff members over the years. Our go-to dishes are Sesame Green Onion Bread both thick and thin versions are great, Dumplings, Braised Beef with Leek 2nd picture, Beef with Sliced Noodle Soup, and Variety Fried Sliced Noodle. During Covid we ordered take-out on a weekly basis. So glad we were able to dine in last Sunday. Great to see our friends there and our kids loved having extra fortune cookies from the staff! Next time I’ll make sure I take better photos.
Halal Chinese food. The cumin lamb was delicious, medium spicy. The lamb with green onions was nice as well. We saw many tables order the stir fry green beans but we had too much food already. The bread was huuuge. Great satisfying dinner.
Darda is a good place that has solid food, good portions, and average service that is about as good as most Chinese Restaurants average as in they make you feel a bit rushed and forget about them smiling at you. I’ve been coming here for years and the food has not changed at all - it’s still really good and if it were closer, I probably would make it my go to when I don’t want to cook. Get the homemade chow mein and sesame bread because it’s delicious carbo loading at its finest.
Very delicious meal. The price is acceptable also. Size of each cuisine is very big. I will visit again. Very recommended restaurant.
So we have been coming here for many years once Fatima's in Cupertino closed down and then took a pause during Covid as well as the question on whether it was or not. Heard from BAHF that there was new management and the alcohol was gone and the food was The hot and sour soup was good, the taste and freshness was present. The chow mein was also good. The beef with spicy garlic sauce did not match up taste wise to how it used to be. The steamed rice not pictured was not fully cooked and felt a bit raw. The thin paratha felt a bit undercooked. The chili chicken was good and would get again. the beef dumplings were not fully steamed. We came at lunch time to avoid a rush but felt that even so, the food may have been prepared a bit too soon. The food came early but some dishes may not have been fully cooked fully. There did feel to be less soy sauce in the food, that may be a reason why some Of dishes tasted off, but that would be a better move for health purposes. The complimentary tea that's usually at the table for post meal, was missing. Also the service was less this time in terms of availability of servers/waiters.
Update: the spicy chili chicken is super spicy, as in, it comes with red chillies and peppercorns. The cumin lamb was delicious and perfectly spiced. A gem of a place in the bay! Extremely popular as one can see from the large number of guests and some amount of wait time, even though the service is quick and they serve you quite fast. The best part is that it’s halal! Strongly recommend the following items - noting that portion sizes are large and each item can serve upto 3 very hungry people: 1. Sesame bread - thick one with garlic and scallions - soft, pillowy bread served warm and best had with the saucy stir fries or on its own. 2. Spicy Hunan beef - soft, spicy beef pieces stir fried in vegetables and a nice sauce. 3. Hand cut chicken noodles - tasty, warm noodles stir fried in veggies and chicken - mildly spicy 4. Crispy roasted duck - this was a new item for me - the meat had a gamey taste and was darker than chicken. Served with crackers though I wish they gave a coleslaw or some other sauce to go with it. Keen to come back and try other items. It seems to be a local favorite. They also serve a warm tea not sure if black or green which helps digest the meal.
