Best German food I've had since visiting the old country a few years back. The owner knows what German, Austrian, & Swiss cuisine is supposed to taste like, and the kitchen knows what they're doing. I found the prices totally reasonable. Beyond that, there were a handful of _generous_ beer specials running the night I went in (on both tap & bottled options). And did you know that sandwiches are half price on Thursdays?? This is the only place I’ve found an _abundant_ selection of German beer. Thanks to the German Beer Purity Law, you know what you're getting—and what you're not—and can taste it! I also always like it when staff actually knows their stuff. Each server was knowledgeable about the various beers and about food options. They knew what they liked and also knew how to describe items on the menu; this is always helpful in making a decision when so much tastes good. The staff is friendly, and the physical premises are clean. The linear look & feel of the restaurant is fun & inviting, with a bar & dining on each level and an incredible rooftop beer garden — yes, I said: *ROOFTOP BEER GARDEN* — that must be experienced to be believed. To top it all off…it _is_ possible to drink your beer here out of a stein, which I think is yet another added bonus of the place! I’ve written this review after only going once—that’s how much I enjoyed it & how impressed I was. I plan to frequent this establishment when I am in Burlington, (and I’m especially looking forward to their Oktoberfest & "Manuary" events). You can find Das Bierhaus just off the southern tip of the pedestrian-mall section of Church Street.Try it for a meal, _good beer,_ or take it all in up on the roof. There’s simply no place like this anywhere else around.

I've been a Das Bierhaus regular for a few years now and have never taken the time to write a review. This is by far my favorite place to go in Burlington; whether for a quick beer after work, drinks with friends, or a half-price sandwich for lunch on Thursdays. The beer selection is great and the food is fantastic (high recommendation - Jaeger Sandwich). But it's really the staff that keeps me coming back. Warm, welcoming, and knowledgeable, they really create an atmosphere that's one of a kind. This cozy lower Church Street locale is a must-visit.

Great beer selection. Good atmosphere that distinguishes it from the "college bars'' in the rest of town. Pricey but worth it. Food is wide ranging in variety and very good. Only good German food in the area

Great beer list and draft selection. But - dinner was very Americanized German. Schnitzel was very thin cut of pork. Gravy was good. And, it is all about how to get the diner to add incremental items to raise the bill. I thought the dinner came with two sides, so I ordered spaetzle and red cabbage. Cost $5.00 extra and the server never informed me, nor would do anything about it. What German meal would only come with one side? Veruchkt!

Two of us had sauerbraten . . . not good . . . the worst I've had anywhere. The meat was dry and tough. Oddly enough the red cabbage was outstanding and the spaetzle was the best I've ever had. Das Bierhaus is off our list of top restaurants in Burlington.
