David Tabby was born in Philadelphia. He graduated from Princeton University in 1980 with a degree in Population Biology. Dr. Tabby earned his Osteopathic Medical degree from the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine in 1984. He completed his neurology residency at Thomas Jefferson under Robert J. Schwartzman, MD in 1988, where he served as chief resident. Dr. Tabby started in private practice in Philadelphia after residency and now returns to it after 12 years as an associate professor of neurology at the Drexel University College of Medicine. He was the Neurology clerkship director for fourth-year students, the director of the Neurology Residents’ clinic.
Dr. Tabby’s interest in multiple sclerosis (MS) started in his residency, when he worked with Fred Lublin, MD, and Robert Knobler, MD. He is certified by the Consortium of Multiple Sclerosis Centers. Dr. Tabby conducted numerous MS clinical trials and performed original research involving cognition and headache in MS. He is a fellow of the American Academy of Neurology.
He provides initial diagnosis, second opinion, and ongoing care of patients with MS. His outpatient infusion center administers intravenous corticosteroids, immune globulin, and natalizumab (Tysabri®). He also manages intrathecal baclofen pumps for spasticity.
