The owner was rude. If it was not for his wife helping me I would have lost $100 cash deposit. There were two other times that I had to argue with him over that deposit. The last straw was when I pre paid in cash for for additional 4 days. On the very last day he came to me and said I had to pay another day, which I had already paid for. I showed him the receipt that showed me paying for my room that morning. I then came back later in the evening and paid for 4 additional days after finding out that we were not leaving for work tell Monday. After showing him both receipts he still continue to argue with me that I did not pay. Once again if it was not for his wife I would have been screwed out of another $75. The rooms were fine, but I would not recommend this hotel due to rude and incompetent owner.
Better off across the street at the Comfort Inn. I needed a cheap room for a couple nights and generally have no issue staying at a budget motel like the Days Inn. I pre booked my room and arrived at midnight. The front door was locked and the front desk attendant was asleep. I knocked on the door but was unable to wake them. I called the front desk and was able to rouse them. Apparently a power short earlier in the evening caused the computers to malfunction. It took 20 minutes to check in. I then walked to my room and was greeted by ceiling plaster broken and on the floor and water dripping from the ceiling on to the carpet. I alerted the front desk attendant who was shocked at the discovery of the water. The next day I went to work and when I returned I asked the front desk for money back, or to allow me to go to the Comfort Inn. The front desk person called the owner with my request. According to the owner, water dripping and ceiling plaster on the carpet ARE NORMAL, and because it was after checkout time, I would be charged full price for both nights of my reservation. After a second call to the owner, they offered a $20 discount for one night. Conceding that this was the best deal that I was going to receive, I took it. To add insult to injury, as I walked back to my room, I discovered that the rooms immediately surrounding mine are currently being renovated. Nothing better after a short night, and a long day of work on the road, than coming back to the sounds of a construction crew renovating the adjacent hotel rooms. In summary, do yourself a favor and learn from my mistake, do not stay at the Days Inn in Ankeny, IA.
The rooms were in poor condition given the price we paid consider the hotel across the street was nicer had a pool, which this one didnt, and was very similar in price. The hotel has no elevator which is not stated anywhere when I was booking they claimed it was so we had to lug all of our luggage up stairs. Once we get up to the room we see that we only have one bed which was fine because when booking it said that they had free crib/infant beds upon request. Well when we went to ask for one they knew nothing about that and said we don't have those. So I then asked for a refund and they wouldn't give it to me the best they could do was move us downstairs with two beds. Wouldn't not recommend.
Bed had no comforter, sheets were worn and almost torn in a large spot. AC is too loud and didn’t keep the room very cool. Looks like they are trying to get a remodel done on the place but aren’t keeping the guest areas clear, the north stairwell is littered with drywall and other construction debris. The remodeling that you can tell has been done is shoddy work, the caulking around the ‘new’ tub still partially had the sticker on it wasn’t cleaned up well, gaps were no gaps should be. Overall very unhappy with this experience would not stay here again, would not recommend
I left my tablet there and paid for them to ship it back to me and they literally put my tablet in a GARBAGE BAG and shipped it to me. It is shattered and bent. Called them and they tried telling me that they used a box when I have it literally in a plastic bag.Rooms: 1/5
Clean and nice! No smells no bugs. It’s what a hotel should be.
Room was clean. The bed was comfortable. Forget the breakfast. The juice was undrinkable. There was just a few granola bars and some cereal to eat.Rooms: 4/5
Edit: Their response is honestly infuriating. They are accusing me of theft that I didn't do! There is nothing to investigate, I didn take anything of the hotels out if that room!! They stole money from me after checking out. I got a notification from my credit card that they charged me an extra $100 for a "missing" mattress protector or something like that. The receptionist that I spoke to told me the maid claimed it was missing. I didn't take ANYTHING that weren't my own personal belongings. Do not stay here, just spend the extra money and book with an honest hotel.
