I had a fantastic time at DC Weightlifting. Mike and his crew really made me feel at home during my stay in Washington. They have great equipment with a great atmosphere. Their drop-in policy is fantastic only requirement is USAW membership. I will for sure be coming back the next time I’m in DC.
I was visiting Washington DC for a week and needed a place to train. I found the DC Weightlifting Club online, emailed coach Mike about drop-in hours and space/availability, and he was very responsive, friendly, and welcoming. The facility was spacious, had good equipment, and best of all everyone was so warm, friendly, and welcoming. I felt welcomed as a fellow weightlifter and it was so nice to join this community! I highly recommend coming by and this will definitely be my DC gym going forward!
I had the opportunity of training with the DC weightlifting club. It was by far, one of the best experiences I have ever had. The moment I walked in, the entire team made me feel welcome. Mike was always patient and was willing to help me out with my technique. If you are ever in the DC area, defn train with this club. Great group of people. The only regret I have is not spending more time in DC and training with them. I can't say enough great things about this club. Definitely join this club!
DC Weightlifting Club has excellent coaches and programming support, a welcoming team, and high quality equipment. I had the privilege of training here for a couple of months while in town, and it was truly a great experience. Highly recommended!
DC Weightlifting is an amazingly supportive organization. I was poorly trained, and they were able to help me grow and succeed as an athlete . Not only was the organization supportive of my training, they helped create a social aspect to the club. I loved each and every teammate, and we would kick ass training while having the time of our lives at every practice and competition. I left DCW because of personal financial issues. The moment I am able to, I will return because I can't imagine a better team/coach/training atmosphere.
DC weightlifting is the place to train if live there or if need to drop in while in town. They have all the equipment you are going to need in terms of good bearing bars along with kilo plates. The coaching under Mike Choi is top notch and the team members are very nice and welcoming. Can’t recomend DC weightlifting enough! Thanks
I was a member of DCW while I was in grad school. The community is still the kindest, most supportive group I've ever trained with, operating more like a family than a team. I didn't realize how spoiled I was by the great equipment and knowledgeable coaching until I left DC. Regardless if you're a novice or veteran lifter, this is an awesome club to check out.
This club is fantastic. I was a crossfitter at Crossfit DC but had some background in Oly lifting and wanted to get back into it. Mike Choi is a great and very supportive coach and friend, offering me advice when I wanted to do everything endurance, crossfit and oly lifting as well as bodywork and belly laughs. The only reason I left was for a move to CO for grad school. If you're looking for a new team or just looking to drop in while visiting DC, I highly recommend DCW. The equipment is well cared for with plenty of weight to go around. When necessary, people are great sharers of space, bars, plates, encouragement, technique work and commissary. Just don't sit on the bumpers! If you are looking to get deep into the sport of Olympic lifting, you won't find a more connected, supportive and teaching-focused team in DC. Their focus on organizing, volunteering, officiating, loading and coaching at developmental and competitive meets is impressive.
I had to travel to DC for work for a week and needed a place to drop in to complete my Olympic lifting programming. DC weightlifting club was located in a Crossfit gym just about a mile from my hotel and they kindly let me drop in for a few days at no charge since I am a current USAW member. The facility has equipment for everything you would need for Oly lifting nice Olympic bars, plenty of kilo bumpers, low blocks etc and everyone was extremely kind, knowledgeable, friendly and helpful. The weightlifting club's hours are limited and can be a little challenging if you're not accustomed to lifting late evenings the club's members lift a night since there are crossfit classes during the day but I'd highly recommend dropping in if you ever need a place to lift while in the DC area.
My time in D.C. would not have been the same without the team members of DCW Club. I had the opportunity to train and compete with DCW for the five months that I was in D.C. Training with athletes of various levels were an invaluable experience and with the wealth of knowledge that I was exposed to from the coaches and athletes. Whether you're just passing by or looking for a new club to train, DCW Club is one place you should definitely check out! DCW became my family away from home and I can't thank everyone enough. Also, it was nice making significant gains in my lifts too after going through a full cycle of programming with DCW.
