Dr. Nakayama is an excellent doctor. If you stick with him, you'll get the best care. He's a bit taciturn but that covers concern for the patient. He expects you to check in & do diagnostics like a car before you fall apart. He tweaks my meds as needed & for the most part have kept my Lupus manageable.
He is very understanding and patience with me! He helped me to maintain my pain and gave me info on what my disease is and options on what way to go! He works together with me ! I would definitely recommend Dr Nakayama! I’m still his patient and he is absolutely the best choice of specialist I ever experienced!! Real down to earth and straight forward!! thank u Doctor for all u do!
I do not suggest this Dr for treating polymyalgia rheumatica. He only looks at SED rate levels for prescribing meds, so is insensitive to pain levels. Didn’t seem to know that up to 20% of PMR patients have normal SED rates. Nor did he know that tapering from Prednisone has to be done very gradually...yet it is emphasized in every case study and piece of information out there for review, so when he cut my dose from 10 to 5, I had a big flare up and had to start over. I felt I had wasted 8 months of treatment. He is probably a nice person and ok for treating other conditions, but I was in and out of his office so fast with both office visits that I was left with many unanswered questions.
Before I even stepped foot into his office I expected to be told “You have fibromyalgia”. I took an Avise CTD test which looks for pass disease activity it was positive for specific RA antibodies, he ran western blot got no answers in return I hit another dead end. I understand fibromyalgia however I don’t understand my physical manifestations including fevers, fibromyalgia isn’t suppose to have inflammatory markers or inflammation let alone awesome rashes, nosebleeds, bruising, some days of falling out of bed because my range of motion is compromised. Or just trying to play with my son without my hips cracking and shifting my balance and once again I fall. I just give up trying to get better. I’m assuming due to my medical I will never get sent to a REAL rheumatologist who understands not everything will show up on blood work which was the frustrating point of trying to get to a specialist in the first place, to find someone who is willing to look farther and help people with unexplained rheumatic diseases. However this 4 year journey spiked my interest in virology so I’m going to change my major if I ever GET MY BRAIN FOG CLEARED! Best wishes Nakayama I hope you find material to help you understand your own profession and modern tests. I will say he was not rude at all and his bed side manners were great.
SAVE YOURSELF the misery of seeing this inefficient, unaware, noncaring person who shouldn't call himself a doctor. Very little interest in my history, labs, etc and spent less than 10 minutes with me. Bedside manner was horrible, obviously stacks up appointments to get through them as fast as possible with little to no interest in the patient whatsoever.
