Great small business! The staff was welcoming and knowledgeable. The selection of guitars, mandolins, ukes and banjos was especially good for such a small shop. I tried at least 5 banjos while there and the prices were right. The staff asked was that I be careful concerning buttons on my coat, understandably so. I highly recommend you stop in and say hi and support a small business.
The Denver Folklore Center is a Denver institution. I've bought a couple of instruments from them over the years including most recently an Eastman MD615 mandolin. I appreciate the opportunity to actually be able to try out an instrument in person, and it is always gratifying to be able to support a local shop. On this particular purchase I got to try out two different MD615's and select the one more to my liking even though both played great. The staff is very knowledgeable and helpful, and the prices are consistent with online pricing. Why shop online with all the benefits to yourself and the community from shopping local?
I've had the pleasure to buy a couple instruments here and they go above and beyond every single time. If you're looking for your first or 100th instrument they go the extra mile every time. Ensuring you have education and resources at every turn. This is the only shop in Denver I trust with my guitar.
Great bunch of guys. Went in to buy an Appalachian Dulcimer. They allowed me to examine what they had on hand without hovering and select the one that suited me. In addition to the dulcimer, they had a great selection of other traditional instruments such as guitar, banjo and mandolin. This was a great buying experience from super nice folks. I highly recommend going if you are in the market for an instrument of this nature.
I was looking for a new acoustic guitar and I wanted to buy it from a local shop, rather than an online vendor. I'm glad I chose the Denver Folklore Center. They had lots of guitars to let me sample and they knew a lot about the characteristics and qualities of each one. It was a fun place to spend a half hour and I ended up with an instrument I really like.
I recently was in the market for a new acoustic and went to the Folklore Center. Customer service was excellent and all the employees and owner were extremely helpful in helping me choose a guitar that fit the playing style and budget I was looking for. I walked out feeling very happy with my purchase. They have a beautiful selection of instruments they keep in great shape. They also include a free restringing. Can't recommend the Folklore Center enough!
I had a great shopping experience at the Denver Folklore Center when I visited Denver recently. I was in town for business and lamenting I had not brought my mandolin with me. I went to play mandolins at the store and came away with this beauty. The Saul, Claude and Angus were very patient with me and allowed me to play through all of the mandolins on display and were very pleasant to deal with. If you're in Denver and looking for a string instrument I'd highly recommend The DFC.
Great shop, great service. Ian helped me out and was patient and very thorough. He walked me through a lot of questions I had and I am happy to say I left with the best guitar I’ve ever played. I’m excited to visit more and perhaps buy my next favorite new guitar.
This was a fantastic little shop. If you are looking for some high-end musical instruments, I would definitely suggest that you stop by. The staff gave in depth information on what made each instrument special.
Best Banjo store that I’ve been to in Denver. Bought a nice new banjo and case. Highly recommended!
